James Bond: No deals, Mr. Bond | John Gardner

Is it just me, or is anyone else distressed at the news that Amazon is taking creative control of the James Bond movie series? Barbara Broccoli & Michael G. Wilson, who have guided the series, will be kept as "consultants" but the real power is Amazon's. The idea of Jeff Bezos and Amazon picking the next actor to play Bond turns my stomach. I don't care if he's black or white, male or female, but he/she should definitely be British!!

RamsFan1963 UGH!! There is an article online about the Amazon take over of James Bond, and they're talking about Amazon's plans to expand the JB "universe" to be similar to the MCU and Star Wars franchise. That has watered down and mediocre movies written all over it!! 14h

DogMomIrene @RamsFan1963 I have mixed feelings about Disney owning Star Wars. That‘s a fandom I was invested in as a kid. MCU and 007 I watch on the side. Disney watering down SW = 1000% I started watching the baby Yoda series and I noped out. But Rogue One may be my favorite SW movie ever. And I don‘t think Lucas would have ever gotten around to telling that story. I do wonder if there‘s another Rogue One quality production in Disney🤷🏻‍♀️ 6h

David Tennant is my favorite Doctor & one of my favorite actors, so I jumped at the chance to listen to him narrate. And who doesn't love James Bond?

Me. I don't love James Bond. Not as books - I enjoy the films as much as the next person. The books are dated & problematic in places, but that's understandable. IMO, the action scenes translate so much better to film, even with such a great narrator.

I had to look up who Pussy Galore is in the James Bond franchise. I saw part of one of the James Bond movies but I don‘t remember what the movie was called. Maybe it was one of the newer movies, I don‘t know. I still think her name is weird. Maybe I don‘t get it because it was before my time and before my mom‘s time too. I was born in 1990. My mom was born in 1961 and the book was published in 1959.

I had to look up books set in casinos because I didn‘t know of any and this was one of the books that came up. It said that this is the first James Bond book. I‘ve never read James Bond. I watched part of 1 James Bond movie and I didn‘t know what to think about him but the ladies love him. I don‘t remember what James Bond movie it was. Also, there‘s a female character in the franchise named Pussy Galore. Why is she named that?
