I have never read a book so in dire need of an editor. This was painful. And Clyde is an absolute loser. #100essentialnovels

sarahbarnes I read Sister Carrie in college and will admit I really disliked it. 😬 2y

This was enjoyable. I'm not a huge fan of the genre, but this was alright. If dated. 🎧📖 #whodunit #100essentialnovels

Last read of January. Overall I liked this book. It was terribly long though. Thank goodness for audio books. I also found this hilarious summary on YouTube https://youtu.be/wE3mwsi3r_M #100EssentialNovels

I really enjoyed this book. I was worried I would have a hard time with the language, as is often the case with classics. But this was quite easy to read. It also helped that this edition had glossary for the more antiquated words and phrases. #100essentialnovels #Screamathon 😱 @4thhouseontheleft

TEArificbooks My son is reading this for school. I am rereading it with him. 3y
TheBee One of my all time favorites!!! Love it so much. So beautifully written! 3y
alisiakae 🖤🧡 that‘s a favorite of mine! 3y
StillLookingForCarmenSanDiego @mdm139 That's a cool book to read for school, I definitely wish I had read it sooner. 3y

I never really got into the writing style of this book, so I found it hard to follow. Lots of brutal violence, so if your not into that I would not recommend you attempt this. Maybe I'll try an audio reread down the road. #100EssentialNovels

WTF did I just read? This wild ride of a book reminds me of Confederacy of Dunces in tone. It‘s a book within a book within a book, with characters who rebel against their authors, Pookas who carry fairies in their pockets, and cattle rustlers in urban Ireland. Funny, absurd, as full of cool vocabulary words a A Series Of Unfortunate Events, and a unique novel I‘m glad I read. #100essentialnovels

Tanisha_A Sounds a super fun read! 5y
Leftcoastzen Your first line is exactly what I thought when I read it.😂 5y
Mdargusch Sounds crazy! 🤪 5y

Lcsmcat @Tanisha_A @Mdargusch It‘s a wild ride for sure. 5y
Lindy I wonder how the title itself connects to 5y
Lcsmcat @Lindy I‘m not sure but I think this was written first - in 1939. The only reference to the title in the work is this sentence. “After another time he set forth in the air again till he reached the church at Snámh-dá-én (or Swim-Two-Birds)” Wikipedia says that your tagged book is punning on the name of this one, but not having read it, I couldn‘t say. 5y
Lindy @Lcsmcat Good sleuthing! 5y
Daisey I‘m looking back through reviews as I try to decide what exactly to write in my own and yours is perfect! 2y
Lcsmcat @Daisey Thanks! And I do that, too, read reviews after I read the book. 🙂 2y

This is one of the #100essentialnovels I was having trouble finding a copy of. Then it showed up as an eBook sale last week. I started reading it on the plane this morning on the way to my conference. Because I don‘t have enough books in progress right now. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Aimeesue I picked up the ebook then too! 5y

A long day at the (almost) end of a long week deserves to end with a repeat of New Years‘ Day dinner and a new read. Maybe 2020 will be the year of reading things I‘ve put off. #100essentialnovels

Butterfinger Is that ketchup on your peas? I may have to try that next year. 5y
Lcsmcat @Butterfinger Yes. I love ketchup on black-eyed peas! Don‘t wait til next year to try it. 😋 5y
Texreader I‘ve never put ketchup on black eyed peas. Ok, going to have to try that. 5y
Butterfinger Once a year is enough for me. 😃 5y

Not much in the world is better than starting a new book with my reading buddy in my lap. #100essentialnovels #littenkitten

ValerieAndBooks I need to re-read this -- I loved it when it first came out (25 years ago or so?) but don't remember too much of it. 5y
Lcsmcat @ValerieAndBooks Hard to believe, but it was 1993. I missed it then and kept thinking one “one day.” I love her short stories so I‘m expecting to like this. 5y
Catsandbooks Very cute reading buddy! 😍 5y

ValerieAndBooks 1993! I knew it was before kids (my oldest is almost 24). I still have my copy! 5y
Lcsmcat @ValerieAndBooks My youngest is 25, which is probably why I didn‘t read it then. 😆 5y
ValerieAndBooks @Lcsmcat absolutely!! There was a period of about ten years in which all I could manage reading were parenting books and mags with the occasional actual book thrown in 😂 5y
