Good poetic story of a Pueblo man and a white trader and a few others, with the indigenous people being given their true dignity as opposed to how whites have thought of them at the time. A glimpse at their beliefs and place in life.

This is a dark and violent mosaic novel following various stories in the American southwest. A theme running through at least most of the stories is of characters seeking vengeance of the bloodiest possible sort. This book isn‘t for everyone, but I recommend it for folks who can handle extremely dark and heavy themes and storylines.

This isn‘t your typical read. Zolbrod translated existing Diné writings, used 100+ year old recordings, and worked with Diné elders to build the most complete and accurate version of their creation story possible. There‘s a brilliant pronunciation guide, explanations of Diné oral tradition style, and lots of additional notes to better explain each part. An incredible and deeply important work.

My sister finished this tagged book at the Cape so I inherited it. Have not read a J.A.Jance in years! She got it at Yellow Umbrella Books, a used & new bookstore in Chatham. They had a new store mug out, so of course I “had to buy it!” #YellowUmbrellaBooks #Chatham #CapeCod #CapeCodReads #SheriffJoannaBrady #suspence #AmericanSouthwest #DesertCountry

Suet624 Chatham. Sigh. Just a bit jealous. :) 2y

This was my fifth Terry tempest Williams book and I have to say I enjoyed it but I was more excited to connect the dots and see where her work goes from here. I loved all the facts and connections being made.
