Quite enjoying this weird #newadult #aussie #twisty time travelling thing. Not far enough in to know if it‘s romance. But it does have #lgbt characters. And it‘s funny and depressing but hopeful. Living in small Australian centres is a whole thing, trust me. #currentlyreading

April 2021 wrap up:
11 books including: #BookSpin #DoubleSpin with a bingo
#Fairytalereadingchallenge #Readingwithmaja
#Aussie and some books from previous readathons were read late. I just want to finish books selected in those activities to reduce my old tbr list.
Some books were not my favorites but not reject here. They were books I wanted to read but I discovered that they didn‘t work for me.

Gravity Is the Thing | Jaclyn Moriarty

Mehso-so

Last chapters were finished today at dawn so it will be in my April stats. I have an uncommon opinion about this book. It didn‘t work for me but in general, it has good reviews in GR. This is the story of Abi who is facing many situations in her life including the grief of her brother‘s disappearance. Then she attended a peculiar self help group. It was so long with irrelevant details😬past and present were not well integrated. 2.5⭐️I almost Dnf

The Dry | Jane Harper
post image
Pickpick

Falk received a letter informing him that his friend died with a remark: “Luke lied, you lied. Be at the funeral”. After 20 years, he will visit his hometown which is facing the worst drought ever. During his visit, Falk will discovered some secrets about his past and Luke‘s death.
Short. Fast reading. Many twists. I thought that I knew some twists coming, in some of them, I was very wrong which I loved it more👍 Ready for BK2. 4⭐️

#Aussie (YouTube) books by Australian authors. Jane Harper is considered British/Australian author.
#ShutdownRound3 @DieAReader

I read the book with the audio and it was fantastic because the narrator had Australian accent and for me was more pertinent. It was like be there interacting with persons from this country. Love this author‘s writing. I‘m so thrilled to read

Gissy @TheAromaofBooks It was!!!🤗I think second book will be in next month bingo card. 3y
TheAromaofBooks It was good, too, although I didn't like it quite as well. But just like she did in The Dry, Harper manages to make the weather its own malevolent character. 3y

Truly Madly Guilty | Liane Moriarty
Pickpick

If you know this author, you know that this will be a family/friends drama where a mystery/suspicious act occur in a neighborhood and that the outcome will impact everyone. In this story, something happened in a barbecue day that “all of them got something to feel bad about that afternoon”. A lot of secrets. It was ok, I enjoy this author‘s mysteries but they are more drama than anything. Vid is a peculiar character. Slow pace reading. 3/3.4⭐️

TheAromaofBooks Woohoo!! 3y
BiblioLitten This was a strange read for me. I was disappointed by the story, the buildup for nothing but the details of the plot were quite vivid. I still remember most of the details even though I read it a few years back. 3y

Chrissyreadit I tend to like her books because I can just sit back, enjoy and not think too much. 3y
Gissy @Chrissyreadit Yes, me too. I forgot to tell you that the YouTuber who discussed the book: When No One is Watching, rated the book with 5 stars. 3y
Gissy @BiblioLitten It happens, I just enjoyed the drama but it is an ok book in general, so I can understand that some people don‘t like it. But there is always a book out there for every taste📚📚📚🤗. That‘s what I love about Litsy, to share opinions and explore more genres. Excuses to buy more books📚📚📚📚🤣 3y
BiblioLitten @Gissy That‘s so true. I wouldn‘t have discovered so many amazing reads otherwise. 💙 3y

April Fool's Day | Bryce Courtenay

April tbr and I‘m going to read all of them (April fool‘s Day)🤣I‘m still reading books that meet prompts from past readathons. My objective is to read more books. I‘m choosing few books that have been with me for a long time.

This month I‘ll participate in #Aussie =books by Australian authors. If you know a book related date/event in your country, let me know so I can read at least 2 books by authors from that country.

DaveGreen7777 Someone on Litsy actually reading everything on their TBR list? Best April Fool‘s Day joke ever! 😁😂 3y

Jhullie I enjoy sharing my love of reading with others who think the same way about books as I do. I have taken part in a few exchanges now but I stick to Australia as I can control it more. My first secret Santa gift was stolen from a porch in the US, leaving me heartbroken as I had spent weeks putting it together. I ended up purchasing a book direct from Amazon for her just so that she would have something to open on the day. 3y
Curiouser_and_curiouser Oh @Jhullie , how disappointing to have the parcel stolen, after such care and effort. I'm so glad you can be a part of the #aussiesecretsanta with us this year. Sharing one's love of reading and books always warms the heart and feeds the soul. I am so looking forward to opening day. All the posts! 😁📚😍 3y
Curiouser_and_curiouser @thegreensofa so very cool!! 😎😎😎 3y
Curiouser_and_curiouser @Rissreads I haven't been so excited in a loooong time, loving the whole experience! 3y

My current read for book club. There are a few members in my book club who are big fans of Kate Morton. She's an Australian author and always writes a great historical fiction mystery linking into a character from current modern times.

Anyone read? Got any tips for good discussion points?

#historicalfiction #aussie #mystery #bookckub

JacqMac I usually love Kate Morton, but I bailed on this one. It‘s like it was written by someone else. I guess I‘m not much help. lol 4y
LazyOwl @JacqMac I must admit, I've been having trouble getting into this one. I thought maybe I just wasn't in the mood for this type of book at the moment. Bit disappointing. 4y
