Over the course of a few weeks, 20somethings Eva & Pat meet at parties & sleep together. Then Pat suicides & Eva realises she is pregnant. No spoilers, this all happens in the first 20 pages. There follows the kind of story Sally Rooney might write if she lived in Melbourne as Eva & her friends adjust to the pregnancy & the changes in their lives. The story is explicitly set in the area I live in - I loved all the local references.

Centique This sounds really good! Hope you guys are doing okay. I‘m always reading the Melbourne news and hoping for improvement 🤞🤞 3y
CarolynM @Centique Thanks Paula, we're OK. Hoping it doesn't go on too much longer😬 But even if we squash it again here if things don't change in NSW we'll be back in lockdown before very long😡 3y

Cinfhen This does sound fun and I love the local connection for you 💕💕Definitely thinking of your current situation 😞I fear Israel is about to announce a full lockdown but things have gotten really bad there😢😫 3y
LeeRHarry This sounds good 😊 happy to hear you‘re hanging in there with the lockdown - we have had two exposure site scares at work today so things got a little bit too close to home 😳 I agree the NSW government needs to get their act together 😡 3y
CarolynM @LeeRHarry We have all been able to stay close to home and luckily there are no exposure sites near us. Hope it stays that way. How are you coping? 3y
LeeRHarry @CarolynM not too bad thanks - had planned on going to NT - rescheduled trip from June - in just over a week - it‘ll take a minor miracle for that to happen now 😔 it really isn‘t worth planning anything. Bring on 2022! 3y
CarolynM @Cinfhen Thanks Cindy, we are ok. I won't bore you with the details of the ongoing interstate feud that's got us here. It's so frustrating😡 I'm sorry to hear things are so bad in Israel. There must be better times ahead for all of us💕 3y
CarolynM @LeeRHarry Oh, that's disappointing. We were supposed to have gone to Uluru in July but that was scuppered by Jetstar changing our direct flight booking to flights via Sydney which they then cancelled when the Sydney outbreak kicked off😡😡😡 We haven't rescheduled, I think we'll just try to grab the first opportunity that comes along once this lockdown is over. Planning anything is only asking to be disappointed these days😞 3y
Cinfhen Thanks 😊 I agree, praying for better days for all xx 3y
Jeg Sitting over here in Perth with fingers crossed.🤞🤞🤞 3y

Cinfhen I loved Lost City of Z too!!! It began my love affair with NF!!! Too bad the others were only meh 😕 3y
Zoes_Human I was disappointed with Hummingbird Salamander as well. Loved the idea but the execution fell short for me. 3y

Continuing my once a year reading of something by Anthony Trollope as I do enjoy a little Victorian classic literature. 😁
Also found out via Litsy that there is a tv series so will look around for that. 🏃🏃
Including this for #booked2021 #authorsfirstnamestartswithaborc

BarbaraTheBibliophage Good call! Like the vintage cover! 3y
Smarkies @BarbaraTheBibliophage I love buying vintage books for some of the classics I read. Lends an air to the book 😂😂😂 3y

Cute and fluffy! Nothing new here - but sometimes you need a light, quick read to cleanse the palate.

This was a pleasant surprise-I wasn‘t sure if I‘d like this one, but I devoured it in a week. A lot of the tropes and characters reminded me of other YA dystopian novels, but I still found myself engaged and interested throughout. Will pick up the sequel soon.

Mehso-so

Book 7 - this can easily be read as a standalone. I didn't guess the mystery and I appreciated both that the murder wasn't gruesome and the small village secrets weren't super seedy. However, the amount of repetition was unbearable. It felt like Weaver had a minimum page goal and not enough plot to reach it. If I had to hear about the rough start to the MCs marriage again, I was going to scream. #netgalley

Cinfhen Sorry book was only meh but at least you knocked off a prompt 🎉 3y
DGRachel @Cinfhen Yeah, I‘m not even all that bothered by it being only “meh”. I‘m just happy to have a book knocked off my MountTBR, a prompt for the challenge, 288 pages towards my page goal for the year, and one less book in my NetGalley queue. #multitasking 3y

I can't get enough of this series! Even though the mysteries are fairly forgettable, there's something so appealing about an NYC coffee shop. So unusual for a cozy! #pop21 #bookthathasfewerthan1000reviewsonamazonorgoodreads #booked2021 #authorsfirstnamestartswithaborc @Cinfhen @BarbaraTheBibliophage @4thhouseontheleft

Three New Yorkers who need to face their futures and deal with their pasts if they are ever going to move forward with their lives and relationships. Are they able to forgive? Are the ready to be brave? Lots of moneyed white privilege but for me it never overshadowed the emotions of the characters. Absolutely made me want to roam around Manhattan again too. #booked2021 #authorsfirstnamestartswithaborc

JennyM I really liked this book and I think @emilyhaldi did too. I reckon it would also work for #UnderRatedOrLesserKnownBook. (edited) 3y
Jas16 @JennyM I think it would be a good choice for that prompt too. Wish I had thought of that because I still don‘t know what I will read for that one! 3y
JennyM @Jas16 me either! I‘m hoping for listy inspiration 😁 3y
