There are several important things that happen in these chapters. Butch loses his shit when he finds out Marissa fed from Rehv. Marissa makes friends with Beth after she has a meltdown of her own and burns all her clothes. Butch plans to leave town but V stops him. V has a plan. By the way Butch is acting, V thinks Butch has some vampire ancestors. He wants to force a transition but the Scribe Virgin must approve

TheSpineView Blaylock survives his transition and Lash is now bullying him. John stands up to Lash and beats him up. Wrath is the one that intercedes. Wrath puts John in his place. Later, after John calms down, he meets with Wrath. Wrath lays down rules for John and John must follow them or be out of the program. Wrath sets up a program for females that need help and puts Marissa in charge. The Scribe Virgin approves the attempt to force Butch's transition. 5d

TheSpineView Butch survives. During the process it is discovered that Wrath and Butch are related. It seems Zsadist has taken John under his wing. He tells John he will go through the transition soon. Butch discovers he is drawn to lessers and tells V that he inhaled part of a lesser. Marissa goes to the council meeting and finds out that they will ask Wrath to have unmated females be put in seclusion. Havers kicks Marissa out of the house and she takes refuge at the mansion. Van has been training the lessers..

TheSpineView ..in MMA and Mr. X forces him to join the society. He trades his bothers life in return for joining. V is able to heal Butch after he imhales the lessors. Marissa needs to feed and knows she must use Rehv even though she doesn't want to. Butch wants her to feed from him and he discovers that he is releasing a bonding scent. Marissa calls Rehv and sets an appointment to feed. Butch downs his sorrow in alcohol. Z finds out Lash has started shit.. 2w

julesG Lash - I have no words. Bully through and through. Havers and some of the other Glymera males need a reality check. They are so stuck in their ways. It's amazing to see how the vampires of the Brotherhood evolved with the current times and how old-fashioned the Glymera is. 2w

In these opening 12 chapters we start with Butch and Marissa pining for each other. Butch has a run in with a group of lessers. He can't reach V on his phone because he and Phury are tied up with another group of lessers. V is kidnapped and tortured by Mr. X, who is now back as the fore-lesser. The Omega shows up and puts a part of himself into Butch. He plans to use Butch to get back at the Brotherhood.

TheSpineView Butch is left in a field barely alive. V is able to find him and starts the healing process. The Scribe Virgin tells V what to do to save Butch. Butch is taken to Havers and put in quarantine. Marissa goes to Rehv to feed but can't because of a nightmare she had about Butch. Rehv reveals to Marissa what he wants to mate with her. Once back at Havers, V tells Marissa that Butch was in a car accident and where to find him. He instructs her to wear.. 3w

TheSpineView ...a hazmat suit. Of course she fails to do that and now she has to be quarantined too. Butch wakes after 3 days and Marissa has been there the whole time. It appears Butch is going to pull through. Mr. X is recruiting an underground fighter to join the society. He thinks this man is going to fulfill a prophecy. V talks with Marissa and it is discovered that she never knew Butch came to see her. John passes out again while in class. 3w

TheSpineView John refuses to go see Havers. Beth is worried that he is not eating and that he is sleeping in Tohr's office in his chair. julesG The Omega had a nice idea, but he should have known this would not work out. The Brotherhood might be old but they weren't born yesterday. 2w

julesG Will we ever find out why John blacks out? Why John acts like he does, knows certain things, and has certain habits/gestures/...? I have an inkling. Future books in the series support the inkling. But so far (beginning of book 10) only the internet confirmed it (I accidentally read it in a wiki). 2w

julesG Also, Marissa is pretty naive/dumb in hospital. She walks into the quarantine without suiting up?! 🤦🏻‍♀️ 2w

Lover Revealed is the next book in the Black Dagger Brotherhood series we will be reading. This book is about Butch and Marissa, though I know we get bits and pieces of the other character's stories as we go along. I am most excited to learn more about John Matthew.

There are 50 chapters in this book. Which means we will be reading 12 chapters for the first two weeks and 13 the last two weeks of September.

This wraps up book three of the Black Dagger Brotherhood. Starting with chapter 39, Mr. U is made the fore-lessor. Bella asks Rehvenge to come home. She tells him that she went through her needing and is in love with the brother but he doesn't want her. Now Mr. O is back in charge. (Did you get whiplash?) Bella is sent to stay with Havers and Marissa. While John is practicing Lash lands a dirty blow that Z witnesses. Z tells Lash that he remove..

TheSpineView ..his eyes if he ever tries something like that again. Then Z sends a message to all the trainees John is under his protection. Mr. O breaks into Bella's family house and sees the memorial. He is now convinced she is dead. Mr. O tells Wellsie and abducts Sarelle. Butch takes Phury to Havers to get payched up. While there, he feeds from Bella. Marissa tries to get Butch to "call on her" and he refuses. Mr. O sets up a meeting with Z using Sarelle 4w

TheSpineView ..as leverage. Wrath and the brothers tell Tohr that Wellsie is dead. He disappears and John is devastated. Z gets Wrath's permission to average Bella and Wellsie. Z knows it is a suicide mission. Phury drugs Z so he can take his place. When he drank from Bella he discovered she is pregnant. He wants Z to live and be a father. Everything goes wrong and Z has Bella use the blood connection to find Phury. At the end of the day, it is Bella who.. 4w

TheSpineView ...kills Mr. O and saves both z and Phury. Bella says goodbye and goes to Charleston to live with extended family. Viscous dupes Butch into drinking his blood. He says it is necessary because he has had a vision. Tohr is still missing. Bella returns to the man's two months later to tell Z he is going to be a father. During her time away Z has totally transformed himself. They finally tell each other how they feel. Z goes with Bella to meet her... 4w

I didn't see the point in the change of leadership in the Lessors. Maybe Ward is trying to show how unstable the society is??? Looking forward to the next book and also excited to get to John Matthew 's book. 4w

ShananigansReads I had forgotten the whole climax of this book so it was a bit like reading it for the first time again. This is such a hard story but it ends with so much love. Also I love John Matthew so much. 4w

julesG Z really changed and I loved it. And it took time and wasn't insta-180° like in so many other romance novels. I'm still furious about Wellsie's death. That felt like death of a character in a soap opera who wants to leave the show, so sudden, so (imo) unnecessary. 4w

Chapters 27 - 38 began with Bella and Zsadist finally being intimate. Zsadist feels like he is dirty and will make Bella dirty. He has a breakdown and relives when Phury rescues him. Zsadist denies to Phury that he has bonded with her. He thinks Phury is the right make for her. Bella enters her needing. Zsadist services her but offers her the option of being drugged, which she declines. Butch takes John to his...

TheSpineView ..first therapy appointment. As they are leaving Butch sees Marissa get in a car with Rehvenge. Marissa goes to Rehvenge's condo to drink from him. Mr. O finds out the address of Bella's family house. He drives by the house and sees the black ribbons on the gate and knows it is for mourning. V admits to Phury that he has not had any visions in 3 days and can't hear others' thoughts. Zsadist realizes he loves Bella. 1mo

TheSpineView The Reverand gets Phury to admit he is in the Brotherhood. Bella knows Zsadist needs to feed and goes to find him. She inadvertently insults Zsadist in front of the brothers a d Z storms out. Bella apologies to the brothers and tells them she loves him. Bella finds Z downtown feeding from a human female. TheSpineView I'm enjoying the series. However, I wish we would learn how each of the brothers got recruited into the Brotherhood. Were they all from warrior bloodlines? 1mo

julesG I think in one of the books it says that the Brothers had to come from warrior bloodlines. But looking at the dwindling numbers the Brotherhood should change some of its rules. 1mo

julesG Well, they made Butch a brother, so non-warrior bloodlines and halfbreeds should be accepted too. In one of the next books there's a part about how the inbreeding (pure bloods, warriors+chosen=chosen/brothers) has caused problems already and to protect the race they'd need fresh blood [it's on the chosen-side, when the handicapped chosen in black robes is introduced(?)] - guess vampire high society has the same problems as the royal/noble... 1mo

julesG ... families of Europe had. Too much inbreeding damaged the bloodlines and caused all kinds of hereditary problems to come to the fore. 1mo

TheSpineView @julesG Hopefully, with Wrath on the throne now things will change. His children will not be full-blooded warriors. Beth is at least half human so any children can at best be only 3/4 vampire. 1mo
