I feel so torn over this book. I love John and I‘m so happy he finally got something happy in his life. Both John and Tohr come back to life in this one. The weaving of John and Darius‘s stories was perfect considering who John really is. Like the other stories, this one had a happy ending, even if the overall story of the war with the lessers is looking bleak. 👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻

GingerAntics The part of this book I‘m torn over is the rampant heteronormative BS not just from the men, but from the women as well. It‘s hard to believe this book was written in 2010. Some of it honestly felt like the 1950s. Then there is the flagrant homophobia of some of the characters, one of which is gay and another of which is bi. 👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻 2y

GingerAntics It‘s just beating a dead horse here that every time some of these characters speak, something homophobic come stumbling out. Once again, it‘s hard to believe this was written in 2010. This sounds so much more like the 1980s or 1990s. 👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻 2y

GingerAntics The audiobook has its own specific issues as well. Once again, like the audiobook for Lover Avenged, instead of being divided into the 74 chapters of the book, it was divided into 126 tracks. This makes it really hard to know where you are in the book without following along with the book at all times. This one was worse though. Every few tracks, there was an announcement that the end of a disk had been reached and a new disk was beginning. 👇🏻 2y

GingerAntics This audiobook seriously needs some cleanup done on it. It‘s almost as if Penguin Audio couldn‘t be bothered, so they just ripped the audiobook from CDs and uploaded it. For the price, I would certainly expect more. #jrward #BlackDaggerBrotherhood #LoverMine 2y

julesG Haven't read this one yet, but yes to the homophobic issues and yes to the shoddy audiobook. I especially hate the way they have cut the recording. There's nearly always an inhale at the end of track, when it's not the end of a chapter, then a short break, then the next paragraph starts. 🤬 2y

GingerAntics @julesG Drives. Me. Nuts!!!! A bigger publishing house takes over and the cover art gets better, but the audio gets worse. I‘ll take the crappy cover art for the proper editing of the audiobooks. 2y

2nd book read for #OutstandingOctober #October20in4 #Readathon

Goes into a lot of emotional detail about rape trauma and recovery for a paranormal romance novel. It portrayed aspects of PTSD surprisingly well considering the characters tend to have unrealisticly happy endings. This one is not a light hearted escape though.
