I had tried reading this book once before, so my hopes weren't super high. But once I got about 100 pages in, I was hooked! I was nervous about the violence, but I don't think it got superfluous, even though it was at times hard to read. I LOVE the concept of the thunderhead! Characters weren't my favorite, but the plot made up for that in my opinion. Read for #bnyabookclub #wintergames #tbrread #thefilthyanimals @rather_be_reading @StayCurious

I really enjoyed the atmosphere of this book. It's set in a different reality similar to 16th century France. A young witch ends up having to marry a witch hunter. The magic is interesting enough and different from what I have encountered before. The enemies to lovers and slow burn romance was done fairly well. I didn't love the main characters, though. The romance was at times a little graphic for YA. Read for the #BNYAbookclub

This book was a wild ride, and I NEEDED to know why and how it would end! Girls in a boarding school on an island off the coast of Maine, when a virus hits and they get quarantined. The virus affects all of them in different, gruesome ways and many of the girls die before the resolution. I didn't find the main characters very likeable, but it didn't affect my reading enjoyment that much. ⬇️

rjsthumbelina The descriptive writing and lush setting were all I needed with the danger and mystery of the Tox! ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 6mo
rjsthumbelina Read for #BNYAbookclub, which I host at my local store! 6mo
rjsthumbelina This also counted as my book with #LGBT+ rep, for my A for transfiguration class for the #NEWTs #magicalreadathon 5mo

I read this for my stores YA Bookclub and it did not disappoint! I read it in 2 days— actually I read it up until book club started 😅 I must say, I loved the banter between Altair and Nasir. I‘ll definitely be recommending this to customers looking for a new fantasy read. Also, this was the authors first book 😲 #wehunttheflame #hafsahfaizal #debutauthor #bnyabookclub #yabookclub #fantasy #magic #summerread

Such a good work book haul!! In honor of #bnyabookclub, Spin the Dawn and The Beholder are 50% off this weekend. I promise, I needed them. The Hearts We Sold was cheap after my discount, and I couldn't pass up an ARC of The Warehouse, which I've never heard of but it sounded great

This is the best book I have read this year, hands down. It could not have been better. The first act is a bit slow, while the world is developed and the characters are put in place. But once you know everything you need to know, the plot doesn't stop. The magic system was great, the setting exotic, the enemies to lovers romance the best I have ever read.I loved the comraderie between the whole group going on the adventure. The twists were brilliant

rjsthumbelina Picture is of the amazing front cover map! Forgot to mention, I read this as part of the #bnyabookclub, which I am leading at my local store 6mo

rjsthumbelina @Dragonfairykats it was sooo good! I cannot even put it into words 6mo
rjsthumbelina Also, this one beat out With the Fire on High for my favorite book of the year. Which was amazing, so that says a whole lot. Very different kinds of YA, but still - THIS BOOK WAS FANTASTIC 6mo

I am enjoying this book so much now that the adventure part of the plot has started! I will admit, the author took her time setting up the background story and building the intricate world, but with a story like this one, I don't think it could have been done a different way! ⬇️

rjsthumbelina So much rich lore in the world-building, and such an exotic and magical world she has built. I'm super impressed with this debut YA fantasy so far. Reading for the #BNYAbookclub, which happens this Thursday at all Barnes and Nobles! 7mo

I finished this book several days ago, and I'm still trying to figure out quite how I feel. I read this for #barnesandnoble #YAbookclub bc I work at a b&n part time and agreed to lead the teen book club. I hated the characters' names, for sure! And I was definitely annoyed that for most of the book, the main character kept destroying her chances at friendship and career betterment bc she was so focused on a boy. ⬇️

rjsthumbelina However, I thought that there was a ton of character growth by the end, even if I thought the progression of it was rushed. As far as the romance, I hated that she was pining after a guy with a girlfriend. But as the story continued, it seemed like that was an intentional choice, showing that love isn't convenient or logical. Overall, I would say ⭐⭐⭐ 7mo
