“As they left the shop, Mma Ramotswe made amends and told Mma Makutsi that she really thought the blue shoes very beautiful. There was no point in disapproving of a purchase once the deed had been done.”
Mma Makutsi‘s weakness was colorful unusual shoes - it was her trademark 👠

1-read the newest Cash Blackbear mystery
2-a new Jenoff novel came to my attention for Mount TBR
3-finished the 25th book in the Botswana Ladies Detective Agency series; the 26th will be out later this year
4-the redbud trees are blooming (they are actually more pink than red)
5-May go to a free philharmonic concert this evening
This book was a treat — a super fast paced sci-fi ghost story. Elements felt a little repetitive or all talk/no show, but so much of this was lyrically delicate, super descriptive body horror. This is the author‘s first novel - I‘m really excited to see where she goes from here.
This will likely be my last read of February and it‘s much denser than I was expecting. Think Nnedi Okorafor meets N.K. Jemisin meets The Handmaid‘s Tale.
2.5/5 ⭐️
Just a so so for me. There seem to be fewer cases and lots of hints get dropped each book, but then they never get picked up again. I‘m going to take a little break from this series for a bit.
Photo on left is us 11 years ago, though currently his memories of us range between none and occasional haziness. We have essentially started over but in a beautiful way. At his living facility yesterday the activity director brought in fresh flowers/accessories and he made me a valentine bouquet 🩷🌹❤️
I‘m almost finished with book 5 of tagged series and it‘s delightful. Thanks to audiobooks 🎧

3/4⭐️ (Very Good) Read for January #bookspin number 17.
I still love the characters and the setting. The writing is not full of itself and fussy. I was a little disappointed that some storylines from the third book seemed to have been dropped. Hopefully they will get picked up later. Mma Ramotswe‘s cases weren‘t as interesting, but I appreciated getting to know more about Mma Makutsi.
