My #SeasonalCozies pick for May is The Cornish Wedding Murder, because our wedding anniversary takes place in May, and we will be visiting Cornwall! 💍👰🤵‍♂️🇬🇧

@OriginalCyn620 and @CoffeeNBooks have already posted their Mother‘s Day themed picks, and @Read4life is continuing with the Calendar Murder Mystery series. Looking forward to seeing what everyone else will be reading!

A quiet mystery which perhaps was not the most riveting. The interaction between Sloan and Crosby does lend to the witty exchanges in the book.

The 3rd of this trilogy finds Hervey married to Nicholas but about to have a serious operation. The bk then covers the 9 days of the 1926 general strike, + the characters are polarised btwn avid support of the cause + entrenched self-interest. What is interesting is how scared of revolution society was at a time when ww1 still impacts on lives + poverty is rife. A fascinating period, + good series. And the life of the writer is wortha bk itself ⬇️

andrew61 Just a mention of the choices virago made for the art on their covers . Here 3 wonderful Edward Hopper images captured the dark emotion of the characters. 2mo

A crow drops a finger on a footpath in front of a walker, and the best laid plans go awry.

Poor Crosby is back to the barely competent sidekick in this one 😆

My book club will soon discuss this engaging listen! Well-performed and set across England in 1932, Stella has something to prove with writing her second book. After dismal sales with her first biography, her publisher suggests she write a history of food in England. Still fresh in her grief of losing her mother, and navigating her own relationships, this does eventually get there. Stella‘s choices are less than stellar but her arc is satisfying.

Solid first book in this series that's been on my radar for a while now. I started with the audiobook but switched to ebook because I just wasn't in a listening mood and enjoyed where the story took me. I'm looking forward to continuing this series, and my only real complaint is that sometimes characters were referred to as their first name and sometimes their last, which is a bit of a pet peeve of mine when it comes to reading

I‘m thrilled to report that not only did I complete my goal for #YearEnd #20in4 by reading 20 chapters in this book—but I ended up finishing the entire book! The readathon gave me the push I needed to finish this one.

Thank you for hosting, @Andrew65!

Andrew65 Fantastic 👏👏👏🙌🎊🎉🥳 Thanks for playing along. 4mo

The last book I finished in 2023! I love food fiction and in this case, the main character is an author tasked with writing a history of English cooking. I loved all of the food, cooking, and recipes, and I really loved the historical info included about the English recipes. But the MC had a lot going on, and I got bored with all of the different dramas in her life. I struggled with a lot of the food, people, places, and pop culture references👇🏻

intothehallofbooks …but this made a lot more sense to me once I realized this book was published over in England a year ago. A cute story, will be most loved by more serious foodies or fans of British history and culture. Thanks to William Morrow and NetGalley for providing a digital copy for review. 4mo

I‘m joining the #YearEnd #20in4 Readathon hosted by @Andrew65!

My goal will be to read 20 chapters in the tagged book which will bring me to 3/4 thru it. (Actually, I‘d really love to finish it but having a goal is fun.) This is a NetGalley read that I‘m a little late on finishing. I‘m trudging thru it, likely because I‘ve been so busy at work and home lately. I tend to love books about food or cooking, so hoping this one will pick up for me.
