Mehso-so

While the blurb may lead the reader to expect this book will be about ghosts, more, it is about the loneliness and stories which make up each life. The beginning and end are hidden in the ebb and flow. I still love In the Time of Butterflies best. #Caribathon

1. I will like to visit different villages in London, France and Edinburg not only because the books I read mention these places but because I have watched some readers videos of those places, some of them with beautiful small bookstores.

2. Yes, last book read was Exiles by Jane Harper 3rd and last book in this trilogy

3. I‘m starting These Ghosts are Family by Maisy Card for #CaribAThon

The Housing Lark | Sam Selvon
Mehso-so

The housing lark starts in earnest and becomes a bit of a joke to the men trying to save money for a house. However, the women have plans to live a more settled life and band together to get things done. A quick glimpse into the lives of West Indies immigrants. Early #Caribathon pick

Dominicana: A Novel | Angie Cruz

Pickpick

Based on author‘s mother story. Ana a 15 y/o person from DR, forced to married a 32 y/o man just to follow the American dream. Her mother told her that she must help her family and take them to NY. We will see her difficult cultural adaptation, living in a domestic violence marriage. A sad story😢but with hope. Ana is a resilience character❤️At the end of the audiobook, there is a short but interesting interview with the author❤️3.8⭐️

Gissy This book was in the shortlist in 2020 for the Women‘s prize. The Dominican representation in PR is high, we have family members and friends from that country and many local businesses are owned by Dominicans. So happy for this prize distinction👏👏👏👏🥰
I read the book physically with the audio. I don‘t know how easy it could be to read it without the audio since there is no distinction between the narrative and dialogue. ⬇️

Gissy Also I found that some words or expressions were not translated or explained in the book. I think that it would be easier for non Spanish readers if those words/phrases/expressions are explained in some way within the story. For me it is easier when I read translated books from different languages like Japanese, German, French or any foreign language. I feel more connected with the culture. But still, a great book❤️❤️❤️

June #BookSpinBingo tbr There are books from previous months tbr. I‘m behind in my challenges & readathons, story of my life🙄I think I‘ll have all the time in the world to read📚😳So, some old and new books. This month I want to participate in #QueerLitReadathon #CaribAThon and #RomanceAThon I‘m trying to read at least 2 to 3 books in each readathon but the readings will be done during the whole month and not necessarily in the readathon dates.

TheAromaofBooks Yay!! Good luck!! I know how those challenges somehow pile up! 😂 3y

#Caribathon This was an intense, immersive story. The writing, the story, the characters....all were fantastic. An atmosphere of oppressive heat and claustrophobia. I especially appreciated the Author sharing her sources on Jamaican history.
