I was looking up pics of median strips & divided roads (for the Brit term #CentralReservation ) & this book popped up. I haven‘t read it but it is set in 1932 where a 12-year-old boy finds out he is part Creek Indian & is sent by his father to a government boarding school for Native Americans when his father joins the march on Washington DC for veterans‘ benefits. There he learns about his heritage & history. Seemed fitting. 💙

*Meet Edie Kiglatuk—Inuit hunter/guide & female shamus—who, while not exactly living on a reservation, is certainly part of the tribal community on Ellesmere Island. She doesn‘t live in an igloo, either—no, she builds those for herself and the hunters she guides on their trips. Edie does manage to run across villains & conspirators, even in what would seem to be an otherwise quiet blip on a map. ♥️

Part of this book takes place in the Hotel of Bees!

#LilithJuly #CentralReservation Another unread NF waiting on my Kindle ~ this one is about César Ritz ( the famous hotelier) and Auguste Escoffier ( one of the finest chefs in the world) A story about their friendship and collaboration dating back to the 1800‘s. Book is meant to be fabulous and I added on the audio for my upcoming road trip. ?

This psychological-thriller kicks off with a rain-soaked road accident that sets the book‘s events into motion.

This is one of my favorites from this genre (a genre that I have a real feeling of ennui with at the mo!) The characters are well-developed, it has a really tense ominous feeling throughout, and a good couple of twists.

Today feels like my #ManicMonday , since it‘s re-entry day at work, after a long weekend!

Not necessarily a #CentralReservation , but this book details marriages between the British aristocracy and American heiresses. This era really fascinates me. The ostentation and the desires of these American mothers to have a title in the family. I recently bought this book...haven‘t had a chance to read it yet. #LilithJuly

Is it wrong that, having come across this while looking for something for today‘s #LilithJuly prompt, I now really want to read this book?
