#pemberlittens #Chapter20NS Margaret is upset leaving the Higgins‘. She tells her mom of the starving children. A large basket of goods is sent and Mr. Hale visits the wife the next morning. Mr. Hale and Margaret go to the Thornton‘s for dinner. They are first to arrive, and Margaret notice how over the top the decorations are. Lots of discussion on the strike commences among the men and the women stay quiet silently criticizing each 👇👇

MicrobeMom Other. Margaret and Mr. Thornton discuss what it means to be a gentleman vs just “a man”. When their conversation is interrupted by more strike business. Something is afoot but Margaret doesn‘t know what. 2y
MicrobeMom I was actually a little disappointed they was. It more banter in this chapter. It was like Mrs. Thornton wasn‘t even there and John and Margaret barely speak. 2y

jenniferw88 This chapter shows John falling more in love with Margaret, and Margaret beginning (finally!) to fall in love with John. Can't reveal much more without *spoilers* 2y
MicrobeMom @jenniferw88 yes this chapter does hint at the beginning of some feels on Margaret‘s end. John is entranced by her beauty when all dressed up. Thanks. I forgot those points. Probably the most important. 2y
CrowCAH Gah, I know. I would like more conversations between John and Margaret! 2y
Julsmarshall Yes, more from Margaret and John. Anyone else feel writes calling him John? Such a Mr. Thornton to me. 2y
inthegreensandblues "But he never went near her himself; he did not look at her. Only, he knew what she was doing- or not doing- better than he knew the movements of anyone else in the room." This is how I am when in a room with my crush. ?? 2y
LitStephanie @inthegreensandblues @jenniferw88 my favorite part of this chapter is that Margaret finally sees John comfortable amongst his peers. We all show different parts of ourselves depending on who is around, and she likes this version of him. 2y
MicrobeMom @LitStephanie yes totally agree!! I think we all like this version of Mr. Thornton! 2y
