Snuggle Buddies | Courtney Carbone

Last night was one of our favourite school events of the year! Every year, they host a Snuggle Up and Read evening. Everyone comes to the school in their pajamas, and there are all sorts of literacy focused events throughout the school. It's the most cozy form of chaos, and the kids LOVE it!

I can see why Winnie the Pooh is a childhood favorite. His real name is Edward Bear. That's a thing I learned while reading these stories!

Pogue I love Eeyore. He is so funny. 11h

Moominland Midwinter | Tove Jansson

❄️ Welcome to my new obsession. ❄️

First, some backstory. Depending on how long we‘ve been Litsy friends, you may or may not know that I had a little house rabbit for 12 years. Her name was Moxie. A common nickname for her was “Moomin.” Understandably then, I‘ve been meaning to read a Moomin book for a long time! 👇🏻

monalyisha 1/5: As it turns out, Moxie was more a combination of Moomintroll and Little My — sweet, curious, *definitely* up to something, irritable (somehow in a cute way), and small. As for Little My? She never feels sorry. Instead, she‘s “always either glad or angry.” And “she always had the gift of having fun on her own.” That was Moxie (also called “Little Moo”) — to a “T.” (edited) 2d
monalyisha 2/5: In fact, I think I might be more Moomintroll than Moxie ever was — with all my lamenting of winter; my sun worship; my not wanting to upset anyone; my begrudging admiration of softly fallen snowflakes; and the round, smooth pebbles in the pockets of my bathing robe all year long. 2d
monalyisha 3/5: Character assessment aside, Moominland Midwinter was my first foray into Moominvalley. I‘m smitten. Immediately charmed. It‘s adorable and introspective; sad and lonely; curious and playful; hopeful, gentle, and sharp. (edited) 2d

monalyisha 4/5: It doesn‘t shy away from topics like death (of a squirrel, complete with a little squirrel funeral) but the author provides a footnote with guidance about what a reader should do if they find the content too sad. In short, Jansson‘s world is comprised of everything I love about Children‘s Literature — with fantastic illustrations to boot. 2d
monalyisha 5/5: I‘ll leave you with Too-ticky‘s winter bonfire song:

“Here come the dumb,
The lonely and the rum,
The wild and the quiet,
Thud goes the drum.”

Thud, thud, thud goes my Moomin-lovin‘ heart.

willaful This was my first Moomin book too. Seems to be a good place to start! 2d

4 ⭐Jane Yolen is a master storyteller. Along with the illustrator in less than 20 words, they can have a book from beginning to end. It‘s a perfect book for bedtime for that last push right before sleep.

The Tale of Peter Rabbit | Beatrix Potter
post image

For #SeriesLove2025 , I have decided to read all the Beatrix Potter books. In January, I read The Tale of Peter Rabbit, which was like visiting a dear old friend, and The Tale of Squirrel Nutkin, which I had not read before. Although Squirrel Nutkin is adorable to look at, I was quite surprised by his rudeness of manner! 🐿️

@Andrew65 @TheSpineView

Jess861 I definitely didn't remember how these books went as I went to read them to our 3 year old at the time a few years back 😆 😆....quickly realized - not appropriate! 6d

I was today-years-old when I found this monthly wrap up calendar option on SG. The January Pages Challenge was a good motivator for reading a little a day on the longer books. ❤️

Clare-Dragonfly Wow, I was today years old, too. Who ever would have thought of clicking on a dang dropdown 🤦🏻‍♀️ 7d
Booksblanketsandahotbeverage @Clare-Dragonfly To be fair, they‘ve had a ton of updates recently so maybe this is one of them? I‘ve looked at the cover collage before, but not the calendar 🗓️ 7d
DogMomIrene I just noticed this feature too. I wish the colors of the lines had better contrast. They kind of blend for me. But I could see them improving that, especially if this is a new feature. 6d

#childrensclassicread2025

First time reading this fairy tale. I didn‘t get to Grimms original tale but I read these two, the tagged one the better of the two as it felt more in the spirit of a Grimms tale. I enjoyed the illustrations more in the non tagged book but the tale was very simplistic and more cutesy.

Happy! | Pharrell Williams
Mehso-so

3 ⭐ It‘s hard to call this a celebrity author or a celebrity picture because it‘s the song by a singer put in picture of a format. It‘s fine. The song was a hit for multiple years with the Happy Feet movie and yes this book was checked out like crazy. Is there still place for it? Yes… but I have a feeling this is one that when Library copies fall apart, they will not be replaced. I do like that they use real pictures in the book that are set to a

LibrarianRyan theme, and it all goes well together. And I think my favorite thing of this book is the letter from Pharrell to the kids in the back. I think Pharrell should try to really write a picture book instead of just putting his songs in page format.
