#ItTakesAllKinds #WithMap @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks @Eggs
A high-voltage sci-fi adventure story in a Disneyland-like amusement park of the future. The computer programming starts to glitch increasingly, pixel-holes, a few hushed-up attacks & accidents happen. Soon the AI goes fully awry and the remaining guests and staff of the park have to fight for their lives against attractions turned unpredictable & murderous to find a way out of the madhouse.

Yuki_Onna Continued:
You could feel how much fun the author had with telling the story of the things going, a bit like a kid in a candy shop, but after a while, it was just too goofy and stupid. There were tons of inconsistencies. And sorry, no one, no matter how loyal or brainwashed or partially incorporated by the park you were, would act that way when people are starting to get killed. No. No way. ...

Yuki_Onna continued:
There were so many instances where I just rolled my eyes because it just doesn't work that way, at least not on paper.
Maybe this would work better as a Hollywood blockbuster movie where all is action & nothing needs to make sense anymore.
Where were the editors on this one? This book is so promising – it could have been enhanced to a whole another level by a tough round of editing!

Yuki_Onna continued:
The ending with its very sinister twists redeems the goofy middle part a little, and, as I said, it was a fast ride! 3,5/5⭐
Thank you, #LibraryThing for an #EarlyReviewer #ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Joining! After work today (Friday), I have a long weekend off from work; so that looks promising. No work tomorrow and next Monday 🥳
After a particularly unpleasant week at work I hope to make some time for pleasant distraction (i.e. reading😁)

#JubilantJuly Check-In: Not as much as I hoped timewise, but got two #EarlyReviewer ARCs finished and my outstanding #reviews done, so: success!!!😉

Andrew65 Best of luck 😁 Sorry to hear about the work week, hope things improve. (edited) 8mo

#TemptingTitles #April2023
Day 5: #WithASeason

My current read, an eARC by LibraryThing's #EarlyReviewer program. An #anthology about seasons and the circular nature of life and, well, #nature itself.

This is turning out to be a great book! I requested it from the #EarlyReviewer program on #LibraryThing. I was interested in reading more about Benjamin Banneker as I am familiar with him because I live near where his historical home was. The book is written by his descendant who is a white woman. Its discussion of #race in a historical context as well as in current times is fascinating. This is a beautifully written and well researched book.

This is a book I requested from the #LibraryThing #EarlyReviewer program. It‘s the story of the author‘s return to #Nigeria to learn why & how his uncle Emmanuel, for whom he was named, disappeared during the #NigerianCivilWar in the late 1960s. I remember hearing about #Biafra in the news when I was younger, but never knew much about that country. I‘m learning surprising things now...such as that country only lasted for less than three years!

This is an #EarlyReviewer book from #LibraryThing which I am currently reading. After having been given a diagnosis of Alzheimer‘s Disease, Sky Yardley writes with humor how he is dealing with his situation while his wife Jane Dwinell gives helpful advice for any family member living with or caring for a person afflicted with this progressive memory loss and eventually fatal condition.

What a fun read! This is a book I just received from the #LibraryThing #EarlyReviewer program. The subject matter came from the author‘s dissertation on #Japanese ethnomusicology. So far, I love the author‘s down-to-earth vignettes about her relationship to Japan itself. I haven‘t gotten to the parts specifically about music yet.

I finished another book for #JoyousJanuary 2/3 and #JumpStart2022 3/5.
I received this nf book as an #EarlyReviewer. The author did a great job saving these 3 sister artists from obscurity. They were popular in the San Francisco Bay area for their ever evolving styles, mastering every medium they tried. Read if you like sister stories, art history, San Francisco history, or strong women leaders.

This is a beautiful book. It‘s like an ode to a beloved person who is living inside a stranger. The author and son, Jonathan Kozol, visits his father, who suffers from Alzheimer‘s disease, in a care facility. The son carefully records his interactions with his dad— noting both the deterioration in his father‘s thinking process, and also the sudden bright spots of memory that deeply endear him to his dad. #LibraryThing #EarlyReviewer

Itchyfeetreader Wow this sounds like a tough and moving read 2y
SqueakyChu @Itchyfeetreader It is. Particularly because friends of mine have been or are now struggling with parents dealing with this same issue. This is actually why I chose this book to read now. It had been a #LibraryThing #EarlyReviewer in 2015, at which time I started it, but never finished it. 2y
