Okay, this follow-up book to The Initial Insult wasn't purely realistic, but I was hooked. It's one of those books that never lets up and is the perfect escape. I had to know what happened next, and I adored the suspense.

November 2025 Book #1

There is a movie adaptation of this book, it is not bad but I highly recommend to read the book first. This is a slow pace character driven story. The book August character, is so different of the the movie one, the actor is good but not same. In the book you will understand better that great twist at the end😱Maybe there was a sensation that the story was dragged out after the half part but then…the twist⬇️

Gissy (Cont.) starts to reveal the truth behind the murders…tan..tan..tan..tan…But the movie is so good in presenting that dark, mysterious, gothic atmosphere. I enjoyed it as you can see…I love character driven novels…😍4/4.5⭐️and I like that edition cover, giving a vintage look, stained with blood😳 2d

#bookspin 2025 wrap up

Welp. Its been a year. I didn‘t do so well at reading my bookspin picks, only 3/12. Still, I had lots of fun playing.

TheAromaofBooks Yay!! Great progress!! Sometimes picking a book a month helps you figure out what you don't want to read 😂 4d
mrp27 @TheAromaofBooks Didn‘t think of it that way, but very true! 3d

Tress is determined to figure out what happened on the night her parents disappeared, and her methods have a Poe-like flare. Some of this tale is a little far-fetched--the chapters from a panther's point of view--but the story is addictive. It is mostly about a destructive friendship. I'm glad I have the second book.

#FirstLineFridays @ShyBookOwl #2025reads

Reading today, another short by Poe. I‘ve only known a couple of his poems and really like the rhythm that runs through them, I‘m finding this rhythm is also in his shorts. This is the third story I will be reading by Edgar Allan Poe.

These are my three selections for the weekend. I've got lots to do, but if I can fully read the tagged and make decent progress on the other two , I'll be a happy camper. All are for my push to finish #192025 in a somewhat timely manner.

LeafingThroughLife Aw, what a blast from the past! I have such good memories of reading Avi‘s books and the Redwall series when I was a kid! ❤️📚 1mo

That‘s one of my favorite lines in one of my favorite stories (The Masque of the Red Death). “Which embrace three thousand and six hundred seconds of the times that flies.”

This collection is a pick, even though I averaged only 3/5 among all the stories. It‘s a great introduction to Poe which concludes in his more famous work. The narration is solid and clear. Definitely a Poe fan after reading this collection.

I had two picks for this month as well. I didn‘t want to pit two spicy books against each other when my January AND February books are also two spicy books against each other, so I made one a wild card.
