How do you organize your bookshelf? This is one of my more #spooky shelves. It‘s admittedly lacking. #OctoberReads #shelfie #HPLovecraft #sugarskulls #theraven What should I add next??

Does anyone else read in cemeteries? I find that when reading Poe or other horror, it just really sets the mood. I also love how peaceful they are. #poetry #theraven

Day 7 - #theraven #blackcatchallenge

The Raven by Edgar Allan Poe

Once upon a midnight dreary, while I pondered, weak and weary,
Over many a quaint and curious volume of forgotten lore—
While I nodded, nearly napping, suddenly there came a tapping,
As of some one gently rapping, rapping at my chamber door.
"'Tis some visitor,” I muttered, "tapping at my chamber door
Only this and nothing more."

jillrhudy One of the thrills of my life was the Poe exhibition at UVA when they brought up the stuff from H. Ransome Center and I saw “The Raven” in Poe‘s own handwriting. 14mo
EadieB @jillrhudy That‘s awesome! 14mo

I went to The Poe Museum in Richmond today! I‘ve been once before for an event but it was nice to wander the grounds when it was peaceful and quiet. Wish I could share more photos! They had a lot of his personal items as well as art, and books of course 😉

JessNevertheless Ah so jealous! I've got to get down there one day! 1y
SkeletonKey @JessNevertheless - It‘s great!! Definitely enough to do for a vacation there 😄 1y
MidnightBookGirl Very cool! I love the Poe museum and I'm always directing the customers at Fountain Bookstore to go there (well, that and the cat cafe). 1y

" 'Say "Nevermore," ' said Shadow.
'Fuck you,' said the raven. "

I have never lol'd so long and hard during a commute in my entire life. I had to pause my audiobook to recover. #fuckyou #theraven #americangods #neilgaiman

Zelma That line is pretty great! 😂 1y
lalatiburona This is still my favorite Gaiman I think. Just started watching the show too! 1y
Jadams1776 I nearly spit coffee on my computer when I heard that line. So great! 😂😂 1y

4 stars! Reading for my school exam, but it was pretty good. Poetry about loneliness, isolation and a big loss.

I collect Poe images off the net like I do copies of his work. I don‘t even know how many mega/terra bytes I have but I‘m always scouring for more. This is just one of the many. I‘ve always loved the word cloud used to create an image. Do you have any favourite author or character that you find yourself constantly collecting?

huntersmom1977 I‘m with you on POE!! All the way! I remember being introduced to Shakespeare and exploring famous authors and poets in high school and POE & Shakespeare really stuck with me. 2y
TommieMarie74 For me it‘s Alice in Wonderland and The Little Prince. 2y
GarthRanzz @huntersmom1977 I don‘t remember how I found Poe. It wasn‘t my parents but it was before middle school. He‘s just always been there. But my high school English teacher introduced me to Shakespeare and I‘ve loved his work ever since. I blame him (my teacher) for making me a lifelong Anglophile along with my step-father who got me hooked on British comedy. 2y

GarthRanzz @TommieMarie74 There is some really cool Alice work always floating around. I do love how the illustrations just make that story. I have to admit I don‘t know a lot about The Little Prince. 2y
TommieMarie74 @GarthRanzz I‘m always amazed by the Alice artwork I find. I have numerous copies of that and Through the Looking Glass but I‘m really picky with what I purchase because the artwork can make or break the story. As for The Little Prince. When I was small, I watched a movie adaptation of the book filmed in 1974. It was love at first sight. 2y
huntersmom1977 Hey Scott, are you a fan of Monty Python? 2y
GarthRanzz @huntersmom1977 Can I get a Hell Yes! And anything else the guys have done. That‘s the show my step-father used to introduce British comedy to me. 2y
GarthRanzz @TommieMarie74 So I know this is a touchy area for some but what did you think of the Burton movies? 2y
huntersmom1977 @GarthRanzz Nice!! Haha!! Me too buddy!☺️ 2y
GarthRanzz @huntersmom1977 What about Fawlty Towers? 2y
huntersmom1977 That too!! 😁😁😆 2y
GarthRanzz @huntersmom1977 I just love John Cleese! He has a new one that just started airing on the BBC; Hold the Sunset. Can‘t wait to see if it‘s any good. 2y
huntersmom1977 I will definitely check it out! Thanks so much for the heads up buddy 😊😊 2y
GarthRanzz @huntersmom1977 You‘re very welcome my friend 😊 2y
TommieMarie74 @GarthRanzz I really liked the Burton movies. They aren‘t exactly like the books but they aren‘t supposed to be. Those movies are like a third book to me. The names may match the books but the plots involve an adult Alice that Lewis Carroll hadn‘t written about. If that makes any sense. Lol 2y
GarthRanzz @TommieMarie74 Makes total sense! And that‘s the best way to treat them I think. A continued story, behind what Carroll had written. Not a retelling but more adventures of his characters. 2y
