In the 1970's and 1980's, Jim Harrison wrote non-fiction articles for a variety of publications including Playboy, Sports Illustrated, Esquire, The Nation and others. They are gathered in this wonderful collection to remind us of the poetic and powerful workings of his incredible mind and adventurous spirit. The essays are divided into three sections - Food, Travel and Sport, and Literary Matters. Highly recommended.

A magnificent long collection of poems by the always impressive Jim Harrison. Published in 1998, it obviously does not include his later work before his death, so it serves as a wonderful introduction to his earlier poetry and his constant evolution, always trying new forms to express his worldview. Highest recommendation.

A beautiful collection by a wonderful poet. "The Theory & Practice of Rivers" is a long poem that takes up about half the book and one of Harrison's masterpieces. Highly recommended.

I‘m sitting on my back deck, drinking beer, reading poems. This is one of my favorite things in the world.

This isn‘t my favorite of Jim‘s work, but it was his swan song and he went out doing what he did best. These stories are vintage Harrison, who was never anything less than himself.

Reading too much Jim Harrison back to back might spoil the fun (he tends to reuse well-remembered turns of phrase). But there‘s something to his world view and voice that draws you in anyway. I‘ll go for the novellas and the poetry though True North is a worthy read. For fans of Hemingway who could use more emotion and feeling.

George Harrison, my favorite Beatle, wrote #HereComestheSun. This book looks at his spiritual and musical life. There are a few different covers!

Weaponxgirl Have you heard Nina Simones cover of that song? It is gorgeous! And of course George was the best beatle and he was in the best supergroup (the travelling wilberries) of all time! 5y
wanderinglynn Love George—the songs he wrote are my fave Beatles‘ songs. 💜 5y
Eggs I always enjoy hearing album All Things Must Pass (edited) 5y

Classic Harrison. A teacher from my home state, torn between two women, and caught in a constant battle between his memories and his future. I related to Joseph on several levels, and loved the brief journey home.
