I remember I was so obsessed with all the paintings mentioned in The Da Vinci Code when I first read it. The Madonna of the rocks was used for one of the first clues... #LadyMadonna #HeyJune

Cinfhen Well played 🙌🏻nice choice 😍 7y

Still have my college Art History text. Pulled it off the shelf to find one of the many #ladymadonna paintings. This is Madonna of the Harpies by Andrea Del Sarto 1517. It is in the Uffizi in Florence. #heyjune

Cinfhen 😲 impressive that you have the book and you remember the painting 🙌🏻💚 7y
DivineDiana @Cinfhen Thank you. Maybe that I kept the book, but I did use the content index in the back of the book to find a Madonna! 😉 (edited) 7y

Decided to go literal with today's prompt and reference the ghostly #LadyMadonna manifestation that guides the protagonist from certain death in one of my favorite Atwood novels. My copy of this must have crept away like a nun, so this image is courtesy of audible.com #HeyJune @GypsyKat @Cinfhen

GypsyKat Looks interesting! 7y
LeahBergen I loved this one, too. 7y
Cinfhen Definitely want to read this one!! 7y

#HeyJune #LadyMadonna

OK, kind of random, but I picked this one for the 'lady' in the title, plus the mother-daughter Route 66 road trip to Vegas in a turquoise '57 T-Bird, looking for the daughter's twin who paints pictures of roadside crosses (crosses make me think of the madonna) & is schizophrenic, & finally, the mother's stories about being a Vegas showgirl-'making ends meet.'
I read in back in 2006 according to Goodreads. 😆

Cinfhen It totally works for me 😇I think it‘s a brilliant choice 💙 7y

#HeyJune

When Paul McCartney wrote “#LadyMadonna,” he certainly wasn‘t talking about Ms. Ciccone. Nearly twenty years later, George Harrison was an executive producer on “Shanghai Surprise,” co-starring Madge & Sean Penn.

It‘s a small, small world!

GypsyKat Cool! 7y
Cinfhen I never knew that tidbit!!! #liveandlearn 🤓BTW: movie was horrible 😝 7y

#LadyMadonna contains the line (I've always heard as) "Sunday morning creeping like a nun". So here is the Second Nun from The Canterbury Tales ?

Cathythoughts What a crazy cover 😮❤️❤️❤️ 7y
Blaire @emilyhaldi @CouronneDhiver @cinfhen I read it for feminist book club about 4 years ago and we all liked it. I liked the relationship between the Nona and the main character as well as the back story about the family. It was a quick read if I recall. The details are hazy. I gave it 4 ⭐️ on goodreads. 7y
Blaire @Cathythoughts yes! It‘s wild and strange like the book. 7y
CouronneDhiver Worth a shot. I‘m not crazy about feminist themes, but you never know. 7y
Blaire @CouronneDhiver I don‘t think it‘s overtly feminist themed..,my book club will read anything by a female author that has the potential for discussion of how it addresses women‘s roles and the impact of feminism. 7y
