The boys and I finished our NEWTs and we look forward to our future magical careers! Through the month of August my boys and I participated in the #newtsreadathon2019 and I am so proud of my kiddos for all of the reading they have done over the month (and over this past summer as a whole)!!! I have always been a fan of memoirs and this is a very interesting take on the genre. I really enjoyed hearing her stories and the impacts animals had on her life in every way possible. Anyone who loves animals will enjoy this. I got the overall message from the book but I don‘t see myself remembering much of the actually details.

Lots of fun and I‘m enjoying the subtle feminist themes through out. The main character is a little ditzy but she‘s growing on me. I love the setting of libraries forming armies to protect freedom of speech and the right to read whatever book you want. I‘m ready to see where this series leads.

This is the only one out of all the comics released that takes place during the airing of the show and the timeline within. I still loved it and it has my favorite comic released for the show (the swordbending kai). There is definitely an obnoxious in your face sense of humor that might not always be for everyone but it makes me laugh every time.

My desire to join the #MagicalReadathon2019 (better late than never!) led me to most of the books I read. I successfully earned an Outstanding for the #OWLsReadathon2019! One of the books also doubled for my #ReadLikeRory challenge.
I also finally finished both the Chronicles of Narnia and Harry Potter series, the latter for #HPBuddyRead.

Chito was by far the star of this volume! I had so much fun seeing the adventures and witchy lessons learned this time around. Chinatsu also got to be more involved this time around as well. Always bringing a smile to my face whenever I read this and I just keep wanting more.

Book felt slow and even though it did give some great insight into life with people diagnosed with mental illness such as schizophrenia, I was sort of bored through most of the story. Also, I didn‘t understand any of the (few) Patty Hearst references made throughout.
However - this satisfies my DADA OWL!

pickThis is part 1 of the the trilogy of graphic novels about the role John Lewis played in the US civil rights movement. I think this was a very well done and approachable graphic novel for most age ranges. It is very informative on John‘s life and the reasons why he did what he accomplished during the civil rights movement. I was hesitant about going into it at first but now I‘m looking forward to completing the trilogy in the near future.
