With only one mystery to solve, most of this book 5 in the series is about Mma Ramotswe‘s feelings about her fiance Mr JLB Matekoni‘s failing to set a wedding date and his inability to stand up for himself. He faces the biggest fear of his life when he fails to say no when the orphan farm manager Mma Potokwane tells him he must jump from a plane with a parachute for a fundraiser. And it makes headline news in the Gabarone newspaper! ⬇️

This 4th book in the series really focuses on Mma Makutsi, the assistant lady detective. She flexes her entrepreneurial muscles and her love life (or lack thereof) gets examined. Life continues on for Mma Ramotswe and her fiance Mr JLB Matekoni as he returns to work from his illness and they deal with a misbehaving Puso. Mma Ramotswe faces her first competitor in the detective business and she helps a businessman right past wrongs. ⬇️

Another gentle read with Mma Ramotswe and company. Mr. JLB Matekoni tries his hand at taking on a case with surprising results. Miss Makutsi considers changing jobs. Mr. JLB Matekoni‘s feckless apprentice, Charlie, also strikes out on his own as a taxi driver. Mma Ramotswe solves three mysterious deaths at a hospital in her hometown of Mochudi. Pure comfort!

My first completed #ChristmasCrimeChallenge book.

#WhereAreYouMonday

This week finds me back in Botswana 🇧🇼 with Mma Ramotswe. I‘m only in the first chapter, so I don‘t know where the story will go, but I know I‘m in capable hands.

Also reading this for #ChristmasCrimeChallenge

bookandbedandtea I only read the first few of this series- a million years ago, it feels like! I should pick them up again 4w
Ruthiella @bookandbedandtea It‘s definitely a dependable series‘s for me when I want something entertaining but comforting as well. I love Mma Ramotswe‘s common sense. 4w

A belated review:

Change is afoot in Botswana. The Agency is losing money and so it must pick up and move. But what to do about the assistant detective? It seems Mma Makutsi has hidden talents besides being the assistant and top graduate of secretarial school! I love the development of this character. Meanwhile the orphanage has taken in a wild boy who seems to have been raised by animals. How can anyone communicate with him? The solution is ⬇️

Texreader a surprise! Despite her misgivings, Precious agrees to look for an American mother‘s missing son. Mma Makutsi takes on a case on her own. And finally, Precious‘s fiancé Mr JLB Matekoni becomes so ill, he‘s quit working at Speedy Motors! A lot of serious story lines going on at one time. Another excellent book, third in the series. #serieslove @TheSpineView (edited) 1mo
