4+/5 ⭐

Non mi ha reso Marina Abramović più simpatica (che non è il suo scopo, essendo una biografia), ma decisamente più comprensibile.

It didn't make me like Marina Abramović more (which wasn't its goal, being a biography), but it did help me understand her better.

(Picture: me sitting on Abramović's "Chair for Human Use (III)" in front of Monet's "Le bassin aux nymphéas" at the Fondation Beyeler, Riehen)

This #business book about measuring success can be applied to so many areas of life. It helps cut out the fog and helps you get to the heart of what matters. #BestSeller #nonfiction

It tells you how people reach at an Expert Level Performance and also discusses about innate talent and those skills that can be developed with practice even if you don't have innate talent.

“We're related to people we love who can't say -
I love you Black Sheep daughter
I love you Black Sheep son -
I love you outcast, I love you outsider
But tonight we love each other -
That's why we're here -
to be around others like ourselves -
So it doesn't hurt quite so much -“

A happy birthday today to Karen Finley.

I think my favorite part of this book is the idea that kids have the opportunity to share something with the whole school every week. I'm not sure if boys still get picked on for dancing anymore. I hope not.

My version is dated but still has good points. Central idea is that Self 1 is critical and clutters the mind with information that distracts from creating music; so encourage Self 2 with its experience, creativity, and innate ability to take over. Like many self-help books this gets repetitive, but it‘s deliberate. Some good ideas in a chapter about being the parent or teacher, too.
