My lovely greengrocer gave me a punnet of a sprouting plant called Atsina® Cress. All I found about this mystery plant is: “This cress is named after an old North American tribe, the Atsina Indians. They used the leaves of this plant to make a warm sweet drink to ease the pain when they had a sore throat“ https://www.koppertcress.com/en/products/atsina-r-cress and no mention of the plant's common or latin name. Any idea what this is?

Dilara Also, the cheek of a Dutch agriculture company trademarking a First Nations name! 1d
IndoorDame It‘s a brand name. Cress is a mustard type herb with several different varieties. I‘d look up generic instructions on caring for cress plants. I think this one has an anise flavor, but just taste a leaf to be sure and you‘ll get an idea of how to use it. 1d
Dilara @IndoorDame I know it's a brand name 😁 but I find the branding/trademarking of traditional plants infuriating, which why I'd like to know its real name 😡 I doubt it actually is a cress - Koppert seem to call all their micro-leaves “cress“, even when they are not (their peashoots are called “affilla cress“) 😂. To me, it tastes like a cross between licorice, mint and aniseed. Delicious eaten straight from the pot. 1d
IndoorDame @Dilara definitely infuriating! 1d

As a Texas Longhorn I‘m not sure I can tolerate a book where a character is going to A&M. The Longhorns have what they believe to be a healthy rivalry against Texas A&M, but I‘ve learned recently from parents whose kids go there, A&M actually has a Freshman orientation about how much they have to hate the Longhorns. It‘s really weird and a lot of wasted energy to encourage hate. 😕

Smrloomis Huh, I thought it was a more healthy rivalry too… encouraging it in a negative way is just bizarre! 4d

I really liked this one. I thought it was a really fun time. It's just super chatoic the whole time. I liked the game ascpet and the action just kept coming. This isn't like a hard-hitting crazy thriller. It's just a fun time. 4/5

Another Bourdain deep dive - my sixth this year! This one is a collection of photo essays documenting the first two/three seasons of No Res. Looking back, it was a really pivotal time in the direction of his TV career. They still had a lean crew and no special lighting/sound more like Cook‘s Tour, but he was also starting to make the interesting thematic and creative choices that would be a hallmark of Parts Unknown. Plus Beirut is included iykyk.

TheBookHippie I‘ve read all his books to date I still am devastated by his loss… also not a fan of the last partner he had… 😵‍💫 1w
Megabooks @TheBookHippie I have not read his fiction nor the first two of his graphic novels, and yes, I agree very missed!! Asia was a horrible person to him, but outside of marrying Ottavia, he didn‘t always make good personal choices. In Roadrunner, someone said O was a blip whereas A seemed more on his normal trajectory. Very unfortunate!!!! 😓 1w
TheBookHippie @Megabooks It‘s so very sad. 1w
