I haven‘t posted for quite awhile but I still scroll Litsy when I can. Been busy with health & work-related life stuff but seem to be getting back on track, finally. Just wanted to say hi & share a pic of the new-to-me barrister bookcase I recently got from my grandmother. Bottom shelf is a set of photography encyclopedias & top shelf holds my favorite photography books, some other photo-related books & fave cameras.

TheBookHippie How lovely! ♥️ 3d

Took myself to Leeds for the day mostly to visit this new little, women led independent bookshop. They do coffee too 😁 will definitely be popping in again when I‘m next in Leeds.

squirrelbrain Oooh I was only reading about that yesterday! I need to make a trip soon - haven‘t been into Leeds for around a year, not even to visit The Leeds Library. 😳 3d
Chelsea.Poole That looks like the perfect cozy reading corner. 3d
Cathythoughts Lovely and bright 💛 3d

youneverarrived @squirrelbrain ah really, did you use to go to the library regularly? A trip overdue then, an excuse to pop into the bookshop 😁 3d

squirrelbrain Yes, I joined when I worked in Leeds just round the corner and I used to go nearly every day! ☺️ I‘m still a member now as I feel like I have to support them. I‘ve just been so busy that I haven‘t been to Leeds to do a spot of shopping even. 🤷‍♀️ 2d

“Boston‘s cityscape is a perfect blend of history and modernity. Cobblestone streets lead to towering skyscrapers, while the Charles River reflects the city‘s timeless charm. From the iconic brownstones of Beacon Hill to the futuristic Seaport skyline, every corner tells a story of resilience and innovation. #Boston #Cityscape #HistoryMeetsModern

Not a happy moment in the book. Lots of triggers.

Bookwomble Sounds like a gruelling read 😮‍💨 4w
Ruthiella I often feel bludgeoned by books when too many bad things happen one after the other 4w
sblbooks I like the book, I believe I gave it four stars. However, I can totally understand where you're coming from. It was brutal. 4w

Reading this for my f2f bookclub and not loving it. All the characters are miserable and I am too with a horrible cold.

AnnCrystal May you feel well again swiftly 🙏💝. 4w

#25Alive #Dreams a photo of a postcard in a book about Coney Island. This is of the park called Dreamland . It was the last of the early parks built, opening in May of 1904. Completely destroyed by fire in May of 1911 .

AnnCrystal 🤩 thanks for sharing this 👍💝. (edited) 1mo

I‘m glad I didn‘t bail, almost did a few times. There are 5+ characters who are connected,2 timelines, the story is only told through diary entries, letters or newspaper articles. It‘s a bit boring at the beginning & Sophie&Allen‘s love declarations for one another are a bit too saccharine.I‘m also normally not a fantasy/magical realism fan but this worked for me because the “fantasy elements” were taken from

Anna40 Alaskan myth, fable or folklore(hybrid beings:part human, part animal). I found the characters (especially Sophie) well developed & each voice so deftly captured. The evocation of place was also outstanding. I enjoyed this very much & it helps that it‘s not too gloomy. So the saccharine in the end turned out to be a good thing. Our world is gloomy enough (edited) 1mo
