This wasn't a bad collection but it also didn't WOW me. This felt more like a personal work, poetry written to commemorate Mary Oliver's pet dogs.
This was a nice collection of poetry and two Essays about nature, and more specifically various species of birds. I enjoyed most of them, but my favorite was “Wild Geese“
My only criticism is reading through her second essay about finding an injured gull, and instead of taking it to a wildlife facility or the vet, she and her partner started caring for it. It isn't what you fo with injured wildlife. You don't keep them as pets.
I bought this copy second hand, not realising that someone had annotated it.
Very touching: they wrote out the whole final poem, I think clearly a fan.
These poems truly capture the complexity of love for me. I‘ve always thought it strange how the strength of love can invoke its opposite.
I‘m not saying love is an excuse for a pattern of mistreatment (it‘s not) I‘m saying it‘s complicated & painful sometimes & always scary— your heart walks around outside your body & if you‘re lucky you can trust someone to take care of it. I trust Pablo ❤️

They did pretty well with the flavors. The Thai tea needs improvement. 🧋
3 ⭐ Silly Street is just like dirt on my shirt. It‘s a collection of children‘s poems. However, this collection has a theme. It‘s of walking down the silly street. It‘s a different shop you‘ll meet. Different things to do in kids to hang out with too. This book is more successful because there‘s a coherent theme where dirt on my shirt fell very cobbled together.
She also projects her own opinions through the perspective of her pets, which felt a bit unserious. 1w
