This is the basic list I plan to use throughout 2026 for #BookSpinBingo. I added a line for the #192030 challenge and decided today to add a yearlong read of A Year of Wonder, but most of it I kept pretty much the same as the list I used last year. It includes the challenges and lists I‘m constantly working on as well as space for changing readalongs. It also gives me a lot of flexibility from month to month.

repost for @Librarybelle

Today starts the new #192030 challenge!

Thanks to everyone who participated in #192025 . It was so much fun that I brought it back. The only rule is to read one book originally published each year, from 1920 to 2030.

Feel free to use the official hashtag. I also hashtag the pub year on Litsy in case anyone wants inspiration.

Link to the Storygraph tracker is below.

Amiable Thank you! I think I only hit about 43% in the previous challenge. 😖 Deep breath… and let‘s start again! (edited) 21h

BookishPiper I am excited about this. 21h
Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick I'm 11 books from finishing 192025 so I'm going to focus on getting that done. I'm too close to call it quits. 🤣 Now I know I need to pace myself a little better for this next one. 20h
Daisey I‘m looking forward to this! 20h
BarbaraJean Thanks for organizing this—I‘m excited to dive into the new challenge! In the next few weeks I plan to go through my 192025 notes and transfer books I ended up not using into the appropriate years for 192030 😁 20h
Bookwormjillk I‘m two away on #192025 but I think I messed up some of the dates for Nancy Drew so I‘m excited to start over. 19h
TheAromaofBooks YAY! I am so stoked about this challenge!! 19h
rebcamuse I‘ve been having fun adding my books to the challenge on Storygraph—prioritizing TBRs and then Pulitzer winners, with the occasional National Book Award winner 18h
julieclair Yay! I‘m so excited about this! 17h
AnishaInkspill thanks for putting this together, I've signed up and one book read, a short story, Agatha Christie, a real nice way to start the year 17h
Kitta @dabbe wow! I think it‘s missing the one from @Kenyazero which I‘m assuming will be #lgbtqia2026? 17h
Kitta Excited for this!! What‘s the best way to tackle the challenge? 17h
Librarybelle @Kitta Everyone tackles it a bit differently. I started by randomly picking up books and accruing the years that way. Then, I started looking at lists of prize winners, best sellers, etc. for years I did not have. Several of the book discussion groups on here read books that fall into this challenge, so that was an easy way for me to read a year. 15h
Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick @Kitta I'm a spreadsheet girl, so I created one with each year listed then went through my extensive Goodreads TBR for what I own. (I like to list many options in case there's overlap down the road with other challenges.) Then where I had none or 1, I did a web search for "Literature of 19xx" (rec the Wiki pages) for each year to look for popular books or ones that just stood out. Then I would choose on mood, season, challenges, etc. 13h
Kitta @Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick that‘s a great idea. I‘m afraid most of what I own is recently published though! I think I‘m going to rely on the Wikipedia pages (thanks for the tip!), what others add to the StoryGraph challenge and prize winners - especially for the earlier years. I will have to look through my TBR as well. I‘ll try and double up with some challenges. I think I‘ve just realized how hard this will be. 12h
Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick @Kitta With 111 years, that is about 22 books per year, or 2 per month. The current years sort themselves out naturally, so you just need to make the effort to seek out the older ones. Absolutely use your library. This is a great reason to explore classics & known authors. It's far from perfect, but if you'd like me to send you my spreadsheet as a starting point, I'm happy to. (That goes for any of you! ) Email me kellyschnorrbusch @ gmail.com 9h
Kitta @Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick id love to get a copy of the spreadsheet!! I‘ll email you. 5h
TheAromaofBooks @Kitta - I also try to think of older “classic“ authors that I enjoy or have wanted to try. Georgette Heyer, P.G. Wodehouse, Agatha Christie - all very prolific, all writers of easy-to-read and enjoyable stories. It's a great time to think about books you read when you were younger and might want to pick up again, or ask a older friend/relative if they have childhood books they would recommend. You should also check out the #192025 challenge on ⬇ 3h
TheAromaofBooks (cont'd) Storygraph and see what some of us read for that challenge. I can send you my list, too, if you want, although it's a bit eclectic 😂 I actually read quite a lot of older (pre-1960) books. The 1980s were my toughest decade to fill! 3h
Kitta @TheAromaofBooks Great idea! I‘d love to read some Agatha Christie. Definitely interested in people‘s lists, or following people on StoryGraph if that‘s okay! My username there is Kitta. 3h
TheAromaofBooks @Kitta - Yay!! I think I followed you on Storygraph - I'm terrible at the social part of that site 😂 Feel free to email me at itsthegoodlife15 at gmail if you want my completed list from the 192025 challenge. I mostly read happy books, mysteries, romances, some fantasy and sci fi... pretty much anything that has a happy ending haha 2h

TheAromaofBooks @vonnie862 - Some months that list seems to work like some kind of anti-reading force field 😂 5d

Pickpick

This was a delight! It‘s been on my shelves for years, and a #blameitonLitsy trifecta prompted me to read it: I put it in my #192025 lineup for 1972, @TheAromaofBooks spotted it on my #BookSpin list & suggested a casual buddy read, then it landed as my August #BookSpin…clearly, it was meant to be!

Herriot‘s descriptions of the Yorkshire countryside make me long for England (admittedly, it doesn‘t take much to trigger that longing in me!). ⤵️

BarbaraJean (Cont‘d) His stories of life as a vet range from hilarious to charming, as do the personalities he introduces us to along the way. I loved every one of Herriot‘s anecdotes—from Siegfried‘s infuriating but somehow also charming contradictoriness, to Tricki Woo the beloved and overfed Pekingese, to Herriot‘s disastrous attempts to court Helen. I devoured the short chapters like the best treats, using the book as a reward to follow heavier reads. 3mo
AmyG I read these as a young adult and absolutely loved them. 3mo
SamAnne A favorite of mine from my early teenage years. 3mo

Ruthiella I also read these as a teenager and remember loving them. The TV show was also on PBS at the time which was wonderful. 😍 3mo
Sparklemn @Ruthiella There is a newer version on PBS that is wonderful as well. 3mo
Librarybelle Great choice! 3mo
Daisey I loved these as well! 3mo
BarbaraJean @Ruthiella @Sparklemn My parents loved the original TV show... I've just put the newer version DVDs on hold at the library, to watch with my dad 😊 3mo
TheAromaofBooks It was SO fun to revisit this one! I'm starting All Things Bright and Beautiful next week 😂 3mo
BarbaraJean @TheAromaofBooks Yaaaay! It is SO tempting to start in on All Things Bright and Beautiful... but I'm trying my best to finish a couple of reading challenges and can't believe October is almost over 😩 I'm planning to start #192030 in the new year, and I might just have to put Bright & Beautiful and Wise & Wonderful down for 1974 and 1976 😁 2mo

AllDebooks I loved #192025 challenge. It's such a fun way to choose titles. I lost my way a bit over the last year. I'll move my planned reads onto the new challenge and start again. 😍 3mo

RaeLovesToRead Me: I am doing enough reading challenges already. Also me: 👀 3mo
mabell I‘m excited! Thank you! 3mo
Gissy It sounds so good. I need a journal to write what I want to read and maybe we can see what others choose? Just to have recommendations 😃 3mo
Librarybelle @RaeLovesToRead 😂 You‘re more than welcome to join or think about it! 3mo
Librarybelle @Gissy A journal is a good idea! I also have a spreadsheet I update semi annually with my titles from the #192025 challenge. There are some participants who post what they plan to read or what they have read, which is a good way for recommendations. I also hashtag the year on my posts for the challenge, so you can search a year‘s hashtag on Litsy to see what has been read. But yes, any way for recommendations is good! 3mo
thebacklistbook I swear I am signed up for too many challenges now including this one! 3mo

Librarybelle I‘m going to the library later today too, @AllDebooks ! Next week starts my temp work at the library of my undergrad days, so lots to do to prep not being home all the time. I also realized I never posted about October‘s #LiteraryCrew book, need to finish the Agatha Christie for discussion tomorrow, and finalize the #192030 to post on Storygraph on Wednesday. Whew! I‘m going to be busy this weekend. 😂 3mo
Librarybelle Enjoy your day, @kspenmoll ! 3mo
Bookwormjillk @kspenmoll that sounds perfect! Enjoy! @Librarybelle @AllDebooks the library is one of my stops today too. I have to stop by the thrift store since the kids need costumes for spirit week at BBC school next week too. So errands, but fun ones. Then tonight I‘m going to put up some Halloween decorations. 3mo
