Read this with my brunch gang. It was pretty good, didn‘t blow me away, but the suspense kept me reading. There weren‘t any big shocking twists, it was more of a slow burn, little by little revealing more pieces of the puzzle, which I quite liked. Most of the book is from the MC‘s perspective, but some chapters are written from the psychiatrists perspective in a weird, pseudoscientific passive voice, an affectation that quickly grew tiresome. 3⭐️

Safe to say I'll never think about that phrase the same way again. Probably a lot of new parents already understood that nuance! 😅

This husband/wife duo is a quick listen that hooked me in about a murderous opening weekend for an exclusive club for the elitist of celebrities. With multiple perspectives, plus news coverage this sparkles with cinematic flair. Some of the twists genuinely surprised me, though a few were more expected. I wish that the ending had a bit more of a satisfying sense of justice though… The audio is well-performed! Available through #KindleUnlimited!

In rdg grp next week we are doing the 2 Celias , Dale + Fremlin. I enjoyed this one immensely as Celia Fremlin builds the tension page by page in a story of sisters whose resentment of each other is magnified by the potential of a the older sibling former lover returning from prison to have revenge. Dark but also capturing the claustrophobia of English seaside holidays. Good fun all around.

Tamra Fremlin!!! 💙💙💙 17h
LeahBergen I really enjoyed this one, too! 16h
Cathythoughts This was a good one for me too. She never fails 😁 9h

Canada Reads. Book 3. How did this even make the list?! I almost bailed, but I thought no, there must be more to it. Maybe I‘m wrong. So I read it all. I was not wrong. It fits the formula of a thriller. But it‘s not thrilling. It‘s boring and predictable and I regret wasting my time. I also have no idea how it fits the theme of changing the narrative.

JacqMac @TheKidUpstairs I agree with you on this one. I‘m also still waiting to fall in love with something. I only have two left to read. It‘s not looking good this year. lol 18h
TheKidUpstairs @JacqMac I'm glad I'm not the only one! Which two do you have left? I'm reading Dandelion right now, it's good so far, definitely my favourite of the fiction selections. But nothing has excited me like in past years. I still think about The Future, Greenwood, Butter Honey Pig Bread. This year is just so underwhelming and forgettable. 16h
JacqMac @TheKidUpstairs I have Dandelion and A Two Spirit Journey left. I agree, there have been many better years. 16h

Airframe: A Novel | Michael Crichton

Forty-something single mother, Casey Singleton, works at Norton Aircraft & when a report comes in of an issue with flight TPA 545, Casey is on the team asked to investigate. An initial contact with the pilot has him blaming turbulence but this isn't backed up by external evidence, & the flight crew are suddenly whisked away before Casey has a chance to conduct interviews. (continued)

OutsmartYourShelf When the team finally enters the fuselage it is obvious that something strange happened aboard the flight leaving two people dead & several others badly injured. Just what is being covered up, by who, & why?

There was a lot of technical jargon & many acronyms in this book but it was still surprisingly interesting to read. Most of the narrative is from Casey's point of view, although a little later in the book we get several chapters from a local

OutsmartYourShelf reporter's viewpoint. The technology (faxes, beepers, etc) are like going back to the stone age now & I would have guessed 1980s as a publishing date, yet it was released in 1996. It's not action-packed but it's a decent thriller for its age.

3.25⭐- it was above average.

Honestly this was quite boring and dragged. Usually the books are fast paced..I wouldn't recommend reading this one in the series.
