While I truly admire Britney, I doubt she wrote this; the emotional depth seems lacking. I also suspect significant mental health issues , and I question the accuracy of her statements regarding the conservatorship. Having court experience, what she described wouldn't align with reality. It's a poignant tale, but I think her perception might be influenced by her mental health challenges.

In crafting a modern-day mythology akin to 'American Gods,' Ms. Link achieves the challenging feat of seamlessly blending a real-world setting with a magical universe. Her work is nothing short of marvelous, capturing my attention and delighting me throughout. While acknowledging that it may not cater to everyone's taste

CallMeIshmael I encourage readers to give it a chance and persevere. The characters are not only diverse but also meticulously developed, contributing to a rich and well-written narrative. 12mo
JoyBlue The Libby audio hold for this is around three years long at this point. I'm sure my library will order more copies, but I'm leaving it on my wish list for now. [Don't want to block a hold spot for nearly that long.] 9mo

There was a time when I was guilty of glorifying serial killers, I wrote papers about them, knew trivia, and developed a fascination. But that changed several years ago and this book cemented that decision. It‘s a fictional retelling of the Ted Bundy story without ever mentioning his name, instead it focuses on the victims and the victims who survived.

CallMeIshmael It tears apart the narrative of him that was grossly exaggerated back then and unfortunately we still do it today with unsavory individuals. We look past their crimes and see what we want to see and believe their pathetic lies. This book is a reminder of this and I highly highly recommend. 12mo

This book is horribly beautiful and the way it describes Argentina is breathtaking. This is one of those books that I loved reading and looked forward to reading each night….but it‘s scary! there is a section with kids and a house that is the absolute scariest thing I‘ve ever read. I had to put it down for days.

It‘s sad how much of our history is hidden from us, this book is astounding and brutal. I‘m sure this book will be banned at some point soon, it makes me angry that at 46 I‘m just learning about this, we have to do better

BkClubCare And the movie is getting TONS of buzz. “Go ahead, stupid book-banner, Ban the book, go ahead and try.” 2y

I loved this book, I love how much he loves movies, he makes me want to love movies. He makes you feel like you need to see these movies. It‘s like you are sitting in a movie trailer on the set in the 70‘s. He describes the screenplays, and how they are different than the actual movie. The actors, directors, a fun read

Words cannot encompass what this book is, if more people actually read this maybe the critical race theory bullshit would go away. It‘s a wonderful and well researched book that shows what our country is and also what it needs to be. We need to be better

keithmalek This book is nonsense. It asserts that "one of the primary reasons why the colonists asserted their independence was to protect the institution of slavery." Five leading historians wrote to the Times, requesting that they retract this assertion and similar ones, saying that the project was motivated more by ideology than fact. The Times refused, but quietly walked back some of its claims later. 2y
CallMeIshmael @keithmalek this book is absolutely not nonsense and it seems the only people who make this claim seem to be males who are worried they place in society is at danger, also please stay the fuck off of my timeline 2y
keithmalek @CallMeIshmael Actually, the people who say that it's nonsense are called historians. But let's not let facts get in the way of your virtue signaling. And when the facts don't support your argument, make sure to simply shut down the conversation by calling anyone who disagrees with you a racist. How original. 2y
See All 10 Comments
keithmalek @CallMeIshmael If I disagree with the premise of a book, and say so ON THE LITSY POSTING of that book, to you that's somehow considered "trolling." But you can go onto a completely unrelated post of mine, on my page, where you call me a racist, and that's not considered trolling? Fascinating. 2y
keithmalek @CallMeIshmael Or maybe I just naively still try to live in a world where facts matter more than an identity of false victimhood. 2y
CallMeIshmael @keithmalek you are the most pathetic of individuals because you read a blog somewhere (probably on Reddit) criticizing this book and you then took it as your god given right to go espouse that on other peoples post. You are the definition of a racist, and i will tell you why, there are all kinds of historical books that are right, wrong, some get the facts wrong, some make honest mistakes, some can be interpreted wrong, the point is they are book 2y
CallMeIshmael @keithmalek books that we can choose to read and interpret I don‘t see you on here critiquing any other history books, you‘re a sad racist dude move on 2y
keithmalek @CallMeIshmael of course you didn't, because you didn't look. I did the exact same thing with "Blitzed: Drugs in the Third Reich." 2y
keithmalek @CallMeIshmael Also, I didn't read it on Reddit. But don't worry. Whatever it is that you're trying to say can wait until you become smarter. 2y

Finally finished this behemoth 1363 pages of amazement. Written in the mid 1800s as weekly newspaper serial that soon captivated Europe and then the world. This story is the ancestor of many modern dramas including Batman, Shawshank Redemption, and the list goes on and on. So grateful penguin classics chose to republish this work. I loved loved this book

Take a little bit oceans 11 and add some Game of Thrones and a little bit of everything else and then you have this amazing book. The characters, the plot, everything is flushed out and you feel a part of the heist and you are nervous for the outcome. This book is great and I desperately need a sequel.
