It was funny and I did enjoy it while I was reading it but every time I put it down I had no real impulse to pick it back up and continue. I do have book two in the series, which I bought by mistake thinking it was book one, so I will at least read that at some point.

It was an ordinary day when Evie met The Villain.

This book was so fun! Entertaining banter and just enough yearning to get ya hooked.

It‘s too hot on the swing, so the old gal and I have taken our supervisory role to the shade.

Snuggly puppy and a book❤️…a delight. And, no. Our Miss Ginsburg doesn‘t have ears. She‘s definitely interesting. You can thank the “breeder” the rescue saved her from.

Oh how I‘ve missed Litsy! We have had A Summer, let me tell you. Lots of realizations and coming outs. But we‘re all in a MUCH better place now so I can finally start reading again!

It's a cliché dark lord-meets-simple girl fantasy romance, complete with magic, evil, and a ruthless king. But what really stood out to me was the female lead's sense of humor. I absolutely love Evangelina (Evie) Sage—her jokes are genuinely funny. For once, it's a refreshing and thoroughly enjoyable read.🎧

I was completely engaged the entire book. It was fast paced and action packed. It was a little bit mystery, little bit romance and little bit magic/fantasy all in one. I liked how the author added the office environment to this fantasy book. It was a new take that I throughly enjoyed. It was filled with dark humour, but also was a cute book. Which seems odd being so dark and “evil”. There‘s a cliff hanger, so starting the next one right away 😅

An engaging tale! The romance is well woven throughout the story. I love the funny and sometimes literal phrases used that are supposed to be said in jest. It‘s quite the writing style and I‘ll see if the author can continue it in the next book.

There are certainly some loose ends that have gotten me to take the bait and continue the series.

Started this #Audiobook on #hoopla today! Already listened a couple of hours and lovin the snarky vibe.

4✨ While there was a lot of predictable moments in this book I really appreciated the humor. Working for a villain who has to keep up appearances can be a bit of a learning curve. However, the main character was able to pick up the trade and still keep her own self worth in tact. Really loved the frog character as well. 🐸

We were able to get a second hand playground that my hubby put up for spring break. It has a shady spot for me to read. 🥰

March's overall pick is Assistant to the Villain. Within the first 1/4 of the book, I told my husband I already knew this was my favorite read this year. The FMC is so hilariously witty and snarky. I loved her so much. I can not wait to read the rest of the series.

This weekend I'm finishing up A Soul to Keep, the last of my #ReadYourKindle picks for this month and Assistant to the Villian, a book I got for Christmas.

I'm having trouble choosing a favorite. Sense and Sensibility is truly the best book I read all month but I've read it so many times I don't feel I should count it. Maybe Assistant To The Villain. 🤔😊

This book was a lot of fun and my first book complete for #AuldLangSpine I think it‘s a good fit for people like me who often feel intimidated by the fantasy genre. This story was just so easy to get into. I didn‘t love that it ends on a cliffhanger but I feel like I am invested and will be continuing the series for #SerieLove2025 also I need more Kingsley 🤭🐸👑 #LitsyAtoZ #LetterA

I loved Evie & Trystan. (And Blake, Becky, & Tati) I loved the world building w the magic, the creatures, & other fairytale elements. I loved the humor & that sunshiny Evie embraced her dark side while The Villain showed a definite soft side. This was fun & I loved it! Right up until it ended in a cliffhanger. I'm so tired of that.
I think I'm pretty over series right now. I'm going to do my best to read stand alones for the foreseeable future.

Shes not the assistant to the villain; she‘s the assistant to The Villain, scourge of the entire kingdom. Tongue in cheek and lots of fun. The writing style is a touch rough; a bit abrupt - but it adds to the lightness and flippancy. Not quite sure where The Villain stands morally. I mean he‘s supposed to be pure evil and all but ...

Managed to get one last book in before the year was over. This was nice popcorn fantasy. The quirky subtle anachronisms are what made this for me.

I finished my November #TBRtarot pick.

The interactions between Evie and The Villain were delightful. This book had magic, action, romance and a mystery. Many great characters and laugh out loud moments.

I‘d heard lots about this book and was not disappointed as I ended up loving it!
Evie is always cheerful and happy and ends up in a new job role as ‘Assistant to the Villain‘. The Villain comes across as grumpy and evil. One problem, Evie develops a crush on her hot boss. They work together to solve who is causing chaos in their kingdom.
The characters are perfectly balanced with a great selection of good and evil.

I‘m in Rennedawn, a fantasy village that is the location of this book. I‘m half through this and can‘t name my mind up if I like it yet 😂

Starting this tonight. I‘ve heard mixed reviews so thought I‘d try it out first myself 📚

A story based in medieval times with modern language. Skip the pain of reading writing like Charles Dickens *puke.* Also enjoy some fantasy without having to make a flow chart *cough GOT cough.*

Anyone ever do this? I opened up my book and saw chapter 2 thinking I‘m further than chapter 2, what the heck?! Oh that is chapter 11 🤣🤣🤣🤣 I guess I‘m tired this afternoon. 🤦🏻‍♀️
I am enjoying this book so far.

Well that was ridiculously fun! Evie is in dire need of a job in order to support her family when she meets the much feared Villain and is hired as his assistant. She throws herself into the job because it important to do a thing well ,not because the Villain is so unfairly handsome. When his life appears to in jeopardy Evie goes all in on the investigation because that is what a good assistant does. A great light hearted, cozy read.

This was a surprisingly good book with both likeable characters and a fun storyline. A little bit of action, adventure, and magic mixed in with a dash of romance and humor. Assistant to the Villain was a quick read that left me ready and wanting for more. Bring on a sequel!

Side note: I didn't absolutely love the narrator for this #audiobook; however, she had some really great moments interspersed between the more dull and robotic ones.

Just finished ✔️ Assistant to the Villain 🦹 and loved it! It‘s a cute, funny, and unique story. Can‘t wait for the next book in August! 💜❤️

I‘m so glad I stuck with this one, and now I need the sequel! For the first few chapters on audio, I was really not liking this. But as soon as I switched to print the characters really came to life. I love how much of a badass Evie is while also being cute and lusting over her boss. And the Villain‘s inner monologue is really cute too. The book is campy and fun and at times gross (just for shock value) and has heart. 💗 But what a cliffhanger!
