Randomly picked this one from the bargain table at the bookstore and so glad I did! Police procedural filled with interesting characters, a vivid and atmospheric setting and an interesting "whodunit.".
It's bizarre books like this that make me want to live in Sweden (or anywhere in Scandinavia). I would love to see if the off-the-wall perspectives in Scandinavian fiction are universal within the culture, if they'd be accessible to an ex-pat, and if they would make up for the climate being as near the opposite as possible to the weather in San Diego (which has, unfortunately, become my baseline). This book is delightfully weird.
Planning for a long weekend: 1 physical book, 4 audiobooks, and 10 books on my Kobo. Why does this not feel like enough?
You're right. I should probably add another small physical book. The tagged should work. And there are always bookstores.
(Photo of spring blossoms last weekend.)
This was much more violent than the usual cozy mysteries we read for our work book club, but it wasn‘t bad. It‘s frigid here this weekend so good timing for reading about Greenland.
I adore Moomin so I couldn‘t resist grabbing this cookbook for #foodandlit this month. There are cute illustrations and some good recipes. Can‘t go wrong with Moomin! 4⭐️ 50 points 🇫🇮🇫🇮🇫🇮

I made pyttipanna (or pyttipannu) using the Moomins cookbook 😁: it's fish, potatoes and onions fried together, and served with beetroot, gherkins and a fried egg. Easy comfort food!
(French readers will notice a spelling mistake on the page 🙄)

Here's my pile of books for #Finland
- A kids' Moomins cookbook
- A history of Finland
- A novel (the French title means “The frog-woman“)
- A cheffy trilingual cookbook

I love Lars Kepler, but I always forget how much until I read a new Kepler novel. Like his others, this one is head and shoulders above many of the other Thrillers out there ATM. The characters are well developed, the descriptions are purposefully thorough (it never feels like unnecessary "filler"), and the story is woven together gradually and intricately. The Mirror Man had me audibly gasping at times.
