The Smart Cookie is a delightful and encouraging story about self-acceptance and embracing individuality.

a little cookie feels out of place in a bakery filled with “perfect“ treats. But with a little courage and self-discovery, the cookie learns there‘s more than one way to be smart.

A teacher could use this to model many different poems. Then challenge students to write a poem to put in their pocket.

Week 10: Poems! This book is so fun. It is a read aloud that incorporates many different poems within a story context. This would be a great introduction for students on poetry. Published in 2015.

“ This is the best day ever, I think.”

This would be a great book for students to encourage them to cheer on each other. Student could write how they support on another and are each others “ child leaders”. Good way to build a strong community.
