#TalkinBoutARevolution

“I don‘t know if you‘ve ever felt like that. That you wanted to sleep for a thousand years. Or just not exist. Or just not be aware that you do exist. Or something like that. I think wanting that is very morbid, but I want it when I get like this. That‘s why I‘m trying not to think. I just want it all to stop spinning.”

#LillithJuly #TalkinBoutARevolution Posada was an incredible artist he did chapbooks , children‘s books, and oftentimes very political cartoons aimed at the working class. His distinct style ,a huge influence on Mexican art.Posada died in 1913 , so he didn‘t live to see the end of the Mexican Revolution, but he saw its beginning.

batsy Oh, fantastic 😍 5y
Leftcoastzen @batsy Thx! Thought you might like it . He‘s a compelling figure , in a recent Mexican art exhibition I saw a couple of his broadsides I hadn‘t seen before. 5y

(Day 19 - #TalkinBoutARevolution)

*”The Revolution Will Not Be Televised,” a poem written by Gil Scott-Heron was meant as a response (as in call-and-response) to the spoken word piece, “When the Revolution Comes,” by The Last Poets. I‘m an absolute fan of Gil Scott-Heron‘s—I wish he were still around. His is the kind of activism we need now. Sadly for us, he died much too soon (at age 62).

Leftcoastzen Great pick! 5y
Billypar He's incredible- still at the top of his game right up to the end. 5y
KarenUK Love this collage... 👌 5y

gradcat @Leftcoastzen Thanks for saying so...I can never forget him—I think about him any time I hear the word “revolution.” 5y
gradcat @Billypar I totally agree with you...I just hated it when he died, & not in that facile way that one hates death...I felt we‘d lost a grand poet laureate for America. 5y
gradcat @KarenUK Thank you, Karen...thank you. ♥️ 5y

Apparently my cookbook & food shelves are #TalkinBoutARevolution through their titles. These five are an example, if I used subtitles I could probably add another dozen "revolution" & "revolutionary" food & cookbooks. Food-based revolution seems to mostly health-based. Today I am thinking about having an ice cream revolution! ???????

KarenUK Great collage, and I like your idea! 😉💕 5y
wanderinglynn I love the idea of an ice cream revolution. 🙌🏻 In fact, that‘s really the only kind of revolution I could see myself supporting. 😂 5y
BarbaraBB Great post once again! 💪💜 5y

#LilithJuly #TalkinBoutARevolution Most revolutions begin when a small minority start to take action💪🏼This is a personal tale of struggle and resistance and the NEED to be heard and seen. Power to the people ✊🏾

Philbrick has written a few books about the American Revolutionary War, more I think related to the beginning. Here, he tackles the last year. Once again, a book I haven‘t read yet, but as a #BOTM selection awhile ago, I had to snap it up. #TalkinBoutARevolution #LilithJuly

Cinfhen I bought it too and still haven‘t read it 🙈 5y
suvata Same here. I really have to tackle this one pretty soon. 5y

CarolynM 👏👏👏 Very clever. I loved High Fidelity (loved the film too, it's different from the book but shares its spirit) but I didn't like the Music Shop at all. 5y
Crazeedi I enjoyed the music shop!! 5y
