#Top24of24
Here are my favorite reads from 2024. This overlaps 83% with my #AuldLangSpine list, but I still want to memorialize another fantastic reading year. The top 4 spots go to Winterson's The Passion, Butler's Kindred, Awad's Rouge, and Murata's Convenience Store Woman. I read 3 of those 4 in the first three months of the year, so hopefully that means I'm due for some early favorites in 2025🤞🤞

BarbaraBB So many favorites among them. I loved The Passion and Dr No and Castle for example! 4mo
Reggie Kindred and Convenience Store Woman! ❤️❤️❤️ 4mo
sarahbarnes So many on here that I want to read! And I loved Rouge, too. 4mo

Billypar @BarbaraBB Those three have a lot of freewheeling, manic energy to spare! 4mo
Billypar @Reggie I liked Kindred even more than the already strong Parable books. And I don't think I ever read anything quite like Convenience Store Woman - I think it may have been your review that interested me originally, so thank you for that 😀 4mo
Billypar @sarahbarnes Rouge was definitely a trip of a novel to live inside for a couple weeks 🪼🙃 4mo

#top24of2024 roughly arranged from top to bottom and left to right in grids of six 🙃 I always enjoy seeing the overlap/lack thereof depending on how I try to decide on my fav book of the year! #top24of24

Memoirs #top24of24 (25!)
Gee, I do love a memoir. These were the standouts to me in 2024. Top honors to How to Say Babylon, and Lisa Marie Presley‘s was a close second.

ChaoticMissAdventures Love seeing Hanif on here! His stuff is amazing, this one made my favorites too 4mo

Nonfiction #top24of24 The Comfort of Crows takes the top spot!
(Again, it‘s 25, just looks better plus I get an extra!)

Some truly stellar nonfiction this year.

Fiction #top24of24 (it‘s actually 25 but the grid, ya know, so I get a spare!)
I loved these books, for one reason or another. It was difficult to narrow it down and it may look different on another day.

sarahbarnes Great list! I just bought a copy of The Most. 4mo
BarbaraBB We‘ve loved many the same ones. What it the book on the upper right? 4mo
Chelsea.Poole @BarbaraBB it‘s a heartbreaker —one of those that was difficult to get into but surely paid off on the end 4mo

#Top24of24

It wasn‘t a great reading year for me, but at least it was better than 2023. The 2 top rows are my highest rated, the 3 at the bottom right the best of my romance reading.

LeeRHarry Some good ones there - happy Rare Singles made it on the list. 😊 HNY 🥳 - Hope you‘re enjoying a lovely sunny NYD! 😊 4mo
Ruthiella Kate Atkinson would make my top list too! 4mo
Centique Wow i have not read any of these! This is going to be a great list of new discoveries for me 😍 4mo

Though I hope to finish one more book tonight, I am officially calling my #Top24Of24 , which is really 25 (one for good luck).

To date, I have completed 166 books this year (not counting picture or early reader books for #BBRC ); I think this is my best reading year ever.

I selected 5-star reads and books that I keep thinking about, even months later.

Thanks for being great reading supporters! Huge thank you those who joined me in buddy reads!

So many good books this year! I read a lot less nonfiction than usual and leaned in toward lighter reads and mysteries to get me through a rough first half of the year. 11/24 were repeat authors, trusted to engage a highly distracted brain. #Top24of24

sarahbarnes I really liked Road to Dalton too. And hoping to get to Wedding People soon! 4mo
Deblovestoread Great list! 💙 4mo
Lesliereadsalot So many good ones on there! I‘ve got Remarkably Bright Creatures coming up in January for my #auldlangspine list. (edited) 4mo

Pickpick

I did not make my #Top24Of24 yet, and it‘s because I hoped to finish this before the end of the year. Mission accomplished!

Elegantly written, this is based on the true story of Varian Fry and his attempt to rescue Jewish artists and others deemed enemies of the Germans and secret them to the US during WWII. Fry also has secret passions deemed abhorrent in the culture, and it‘s this constant hiding and tension that carries the novel ⬇️⬇️⬇️

Librarybelle ⬆️⬆️⬆️ for over 500 pages. It‘s moving and nail biting. It‘s also a slow-moving story, one that deserves to be savored and not quickly read. Orringer gives insight to a part of WWII not often discussed in detail. A great selection for #SundayBuddyRead @TheBookHippie ! 4mo
