Voices in the Park | Anthony Browne
post image
Pickpick

This is one of my favourite children‘s books. It describes a park outing from the perspective of four distinct characters: an uptight Mum, down-on-his-luck Dad a time, fearful boy, and a joyful little girl. Not only do the voices change, but the artwork also is modified to fit the perspective/voice of each character. I use this to teach perspective teaching skills to children with ASD.

While I enjoyed #Voices , I didn‘t love it as much as #Bull 🤷‍♀️ I feel like if I would have known more about Joan of Arc‘s story going into the book, I would have liked this one more. I did think the format of the book was lovely. The story was told in different formats of verse by Joan as well as other people and objects she encountered in her life. At times the verse on the page was even in the shape of the object telling the story.

After finishing #Bull I was in the mood for more #DavidElliott 🤓 I picked up an #ARC of #Voices at YallFest this year. It tells the story of the last hours of Joan of Arc‘s life. The story is told in #verse by Joan as well as other people and objects in her life. I‘m almost halfway through and truly enjoying this read!
