What not to say:

have you tried chamomile tea?”

DuckOfDoom Have you tried yoga? 😂 It is so awful to hear that from people you thought could understand you. And it would be so easy to change. 5 minutes with Google can tell you that. A basic mental health awareness should be more common, the stigma attached would shrink, too 4y
KimM “You should go to the gym. I always feel great afterwards.“ This statement just infuriates me. First, endorphins may help but they do not cure depression and secondly, telling a person how great you feel and how you are going to the gym when they are having trouble getting out of bed just makes the person feel even more like a human failure. Andrew65 @TheReadingMermaid This has made me realise I need to relax. Stresses and strains of job, should I used to take things more in my stride. Is that an age thing? 5y
BeansPage @Andrew65 maybe it's more of a feeling comfortable in your job sort of thing. When you start feeling comfortable maybe you feel like you have to work harder in order to either get more done or challenge yourself and keep occupied. 5y

These beauties make it possible for me to live. It took a loooooong time to find the right cocktail and I will be forever grateful to my psychiatrist. Also, with insurance and coupons, I still pay almost $200 a month for my meds, which is ridiculous. We need better healthcare. #worldmentalhealthday #nostigmanoshame #depression #anxiety #notbookrelated

AmyG We do need better insurance. I worry that the pre-existing mandate will be taken away. Then so much of America (and my family) is screwed. 5y

On #worldmentalhealthday I am wearing my green ribbon in support of every person who is surviving or has survived a mental health illness. Reading helps my mental health & is a great way to relax, unwind & put the day behind you. I recommend the tagged book as a tool for looking at what does & can make yoy Happy.
