I raved about Thorogood's graphic narrative over the weekend & it has displaced one my selections for #bestof2025 (Barry Windsor-Smith's raw & gritty Wolverine: Weapon X). It's Lonely etc was a ceaselessly surprising, deeply touching portrait of an artist's lifelong mental health struggles & the solace & freedom they were able to find in art. This is one I will be recommending for awhile.

vivastory *The Smith is def worth reading. Summer=great reading weather for superhero graphic novels & this is one of the better ones I've read. 5h

I loved this graphic narrative of a young artist as they struggle with their own work & mental health issues. It's Lonely At etc is one of the most creative graphic narratives I have read in awhile, but there is a strong emotional & personal core throughout so it never becomes tedious or overly cerebral. Instead, it is a surprising exploration of mental health & the power of art. Just absolutely remarkable.

RaeLovesToRead I have this on the TBR. I've been avoiding anything too emotional for a while, but I do hope I manage to read it soon because it looks amazing 😊 4d

Read last month for #riseupreads @Catsandbooks
I really liked the lyricism of this story and how the folklore tales were used as metaphors for dealing with mental health struggles. Just a beautiful book!
This was also my #doublespin for April @TheAromaofBooks

Wow, this book was something. The teenage experiences of two Black children living with depression, trauma, and being different all told in verse. Through it all fairy tales were woven in. I loved it. #RiseUpReads @Catsandbooks

Bad day at work. Ended up leaving early, getting ice cream and eating it outside in the sun, and then picking up a couple books at Barnes and Noble. Doesn‘t fix anything, but does help me feel a little better. Loved the Hyperbole and a Half blog in college, so I know these will be winners.
