#26for26

✅ 26 chapters finished!

Next is 26 hours, I wonder if I'll be able to finish! So far I've spent 35min with this book (yes, this time I'm timing it, just in case, lol!)

I was a bit confused as to what was happening, but I think I'm starting to slot the puzzle together. I think this might be a book about a kid who has to grow up and be a parent too soon 🤔 #yafiction

After enjoying the Suitcase Sisters books in 2025 we had ornament show-n-tell at our December meeting and we made book ornaments full of mini versions of all of Robin Jones Gunn's fiction titles. Thanks for inspiring such a fun evening through your writing! ♥️

#12Booksof2025 @TheEllieMo

Novels in verse aren‘t my norm, but I read this for #RiseUpReads and ended up loving it.

TheBookHippie I love this book! 1w
TheEllieMo I‘ve never read a book in verse: truth be told, I‘m a bit scared to! 1w

When my mother was alive, I was a different person. That little girl wore simple clothes and wildflowers in her hair and could sing any aria or tavern song known in the Northern Kingdoms.

Such a cute YA rivals-to-lovers romance! I loved the Horizon Theater setting and all the side characters—it brought back fond memories of my own movie theater days. Rochelle and Amira had great chemistry, and even though Rochelle had some oblivious moments and I didn‘t love the prank subplot, this was a fun, feel-good read with a lot of heart and community love. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ #CoverLove

12-4 Dec 25 (audiobook)
As I previously remarked, I really cannot recall where one volume starts and the next stops but I do love the neighbourhood of St Crispian‘s and the lovely vicar, Young Hawks. He may be my favourite character.

Really intriguing: a bit hard to follow in audio (I learned later that it had been written in poetry rather than prose.)
Two young Black people meet each other in a centre to support people with mental health issues: the female narrator sustains herself from fantasies from Western and Eastern European and African traditions, and with physical connection with the earth. She develops a close friendship with a boy who has similar ways of coping. /1

Singout The book does a good job of showing not only what mental illness can be like, but also of how different parents and structures respond. One of the most interesting parts is the afterword, where the author describes her own experience of mental illness as a youth, and how fantasy and fairytales helped to keep her going. (edited) 1mo

In a dystopian setting, people are controlled by the government. Emotions are illegal, and faces are masked; it is a dehumanized society. When a young boy dares to defy the authorities, he is sent back to the distant past in an attempt to tame him. But will he come back the same?
An YA novel but important lessons for everyone in our times.
