This book really had my attention. It was great. I found it to be an original take on the relationship between witches and demons. The characters were very entertaining, the plot was interesting, and the mystery was gripping. It's billed as a YA fantasy, but I think adults who like horror would like it. I did not want to put this book down.

This was a solid YA - note about that in a bit - paranormal thriller with some horror and romance within. It is a very original take on witch & witch hunters and was delightfully dark. While I definitely recommend, my biggest critique is that the main three protagonists are in no way 17, it would have felt better as college age or 20-something‘s.⬇️

Nessavamusic This was the only element that pulled me from the story. I received this in a book box & it was the only reason it was on my radar. I recommend anyone who enjoys witchy books to check it out! 4.25⭐️ 6mo

Gotta love the right thigh/hip agony rep in here, though I‘m fairly certain mine isn‘t demonic in nature.

Book 27📚 4.6⭐️

I always love Sutherlands cover art!🖤

What a wild and dark turn of events. A fantastic read for the witchy lovers!🖤

Someone is killing witches and stealing their power. A sister longs to bring her sibling back from the dead and another would rather die than live with the curse carved into her body.

In a world where only women can make deals with demons & wield magic, three young women are drawn into the hunt for a supernatural serial killer.

I really enjoyed this one & I was hooked from the start. It's a perfect mix of horror & fantasy with an undercurrent of social commentary. The first chapter sets the scene as an unnamed character walks home from a party alone - I would say that most women who have walked home alone in the dark (cont)

OutsmartYourShelf in a deserted area would recognise the feeling of being on high alert of your surroundings & the fear that lurks. It's no accident that only women can wield magic (i.e. power) in this book & the (mainly male) witch-hunters want to take it away. It is inclusive of trans women by the way. My only (minor) observation is that I wasn't sold on the Jude/Emer romance but that's only because I felt there was little chemistry between them & out of the 3 11mo
OutsmartYourShelf main characters, I liked Emer the least. Overall though, it was a gripping read & that cover is perfection. 5🌟

TWs: (graphic) body horror, injury detail, blood, murder, death. magic, demons. (mentions) domestic abuse, animal death, misogyny.

My thanks to #NetGalley & publishers, Bonnier Books UK/Hot Key Books, for the opportunity to read an ARC.

Wowowowow this was everything I want in my ya horror!

Brutal, gruesome, emotional and so riveting. Even correctly predicting the twist didn‘t stop me from enjoying every minute of this.

She has become a must read author for me.
