This is just not for me. I think high school me would have loved this. Think Heathers/Bunny but at camp. DNF just due to my taste in books.

I wasn‘t a fan. It started out very good but I struggled with the overly flowery descriptive writing style. Then the story just got weird and I was already tuned out. It was a lot of work for me.
We meet Mars, short for Marshall, a gay genderfluid teen, being woken up in the middle of the night by their twin sister, who tries to murder them. They tussle over to the banister, fall over it, fall on the chandelier that breaks and they land on the sister, killing her. High drama! She should have been at camp. Now Mars goes back in her place to investigate. This book is a fever dream of wth is happening. I really enjoyed it. I enjoyed the 👇🏼
After his twin sister‘s bizarre death, Mars heads to her old summer camp to try to unravel the mystery of what happened to her.
Loved this one. It‘s quite the shocking beginning and then shifts to more of an eerie slow burn as Mars spends some time at camp, and then it ramps up again at the end. I recommend the audiobook, it‘s got some well placed background sounds throughout.

Had the pacing of this YA horror/thriller been better, I would have loved it.
The book starts with a scene that left me chilled and instantly wanting more. As the story progresses, though, the time at the summer camp becomes repetitive, and the action and scares are too spaced out.
It has an excellent setting, great characters, and an original story, just be prepared for it to drag in places.
Here‘s my review for a book I just DNF‘d. This is another physical book I read from my physical TBR. I preordered it last summer from Barnes & Noble. I like the cover but I‘m disappointed that I didn‘t like the book.
I‘m still reading this book. I‘m not going to finish this book this month. I‘m going to carry it over to July and read more of it. It‘s interesting but I‘m not sure if I want to continue reading. It‘s kind of boring. I‘m considering DNFing this book but I‘m going to keep reading to see if it gets better.
I decided to start this book so I can read this while reading my psychology textbook. I just listened to the first chapter in the audiobook and what happened in the first chapter was crazy but I‘m intrigued. I want to know what‘s going to happen next.
I was looking at this book today that I preordered last summer in 2022 and I noticed that the end papers are Honeycomb but they‘re textured. I ran my hand over the end papers and they feel textured. It‘s not smooth paper with a pattern on them and I noticed that when I took off the dust jacket that there‘s a Bee embossed on the book. I never noticed these design details. This is the hardcover edition of this book I preordered from B&N.
I love any book that inspires the question “wait . . . what?!!” throughout the book. This book meets that standard and then some. I love the protagonist, Mars, a teen struggling with grief for the strange death of his twin sister and determined to find out what led to it. The answers lie at the strangest summer camp EVER, and that‘s where we go down the rabbit hole. If you‘re a fan of weird horror, you‘ll love it! I certainly did!
I absolutely loved this! It was twisted and confusing at times and I adored the main character. So unique! I think what I loved most, though, was the fact that I had absolutely no idea what was really going on…I predicted nothing correctly 🤣. I wouldn‘t necessarily say it was “scary” but it was definitely horrific at times. I‘ll need to read more from this author! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Clementines dipped in honey in honor of The Honeys.
The haunting slow burn horror novel follows Mars returning to an elite summer camp following his sister‘s death as they hope to learn more about her recent life. Cabin H, dubbed the Honeys for their apiary duties, were close with her.Mars finds there‘s things at Cabin H &Aspen even more terrifying than rich kids enforcing gender norms.

After “Reverie” I was convinced I‘d never spend time on another La Sala title, but man am I (so far) glad I—admittedly accidentally—chose to!
The theme of grief and the creeping dread meant I had to read this book only in full daylight and then switch to something else, but it was worth it. Returning to the privilege summer camp where he was bullied because he suspects it will help him understand why his sister kept going but coming back more stressed. All the joy and heartbreak of camp where connections and friendships are all operating on layers and secrets.
At #NatBookFest! Sat in on a panel with Tiffany D. Jackson and Ryan La Sala. I haven‘t read any of their works. It was a panel on the horror genre in YA. It was very interesting and they were both very funny! I may be checking out their books!
