4.75⭐️ Really enjoyed this adaptation. I had heard about the book through various sources that were talking about how the book had been banned in a number of jurisdictions in the past few months. Strongly recommend reading the author‘s note at the end of the book. #2023 #bookreview #adaptations #graphicnovels #bookstagram #nonfiction

Yeah, not dying over here at all ? Scrolling through Instagram and saw a post about all the VA love from the previous day's TV announcement and I was all, "whoa, what the hell did I miss?!?!?!" Not gonna lie, I got way too emotional when I found the original announcement post ?

‘Bridgerton‘ Isn‘t Bad Austen — It‘s An Entirely Different Genre: https://www.huffpost.com/entry/bridgerton-netflix-romance-genre_n_60086fd5c5b6ff...

As a nearly lifelong romance reader, I've been so frustrated with the “hot take“ of comparing Netflix's Bridgerton to Jane Austen. This article from HuffPo really sums up my feelings beautifully!

Gnora “Netflix makes historical shows that salve our anxieties with a past where, as he puts it, “nothing bad happens.” In a very real way, this is what the Regency romance genre is, part of its particular appeal: They‘re gorgeous, escapist stories that end happily ever after.“ 3y

Normal People | Sally Rooney

Pickpick

Normally I read the book first. I always believe that the book is better. However this novel I read after watching the new Hulu show and I loved doing it in this order. The book and show are so similar that it‘s almost word for word, yet the book adds in a few extra scenes and information the show was missing which I found fascinating.

Prairiegirl_reading I‘ve been putting off watching the show until get to this one. Now maybe necessary. 🤔 3y
FeatherV The show and the movie are almost word for word in a lot of spots, the book adds more commentary in some areas but I personally enjoyed reading the book more from having watched the show 3y

I loved the book. Terry Pratchett never disappoints.

Now I‘m checking out the series. So far, it‘s pretty fun. #adaptations

Sace My husband and I watched that a few months ago. We haven't read any Terry Pratchett but we LOVED this series. ( I probably shouldn't admit that I have not read any Terry Pratchett.) 4y
wanderinglynn @Sace then I highly recommend the book. It‘s one of the standalones in the Discworld series. 4y

A Discovery of Witches | Deborah E. Harkness

I've been recovering from surgery this week and have actually felt too tired mostly to even read. In between naps I've finally started watching A Discovery of Witches, which has been on my watch list for ages! I haven't read the books, although @Kimberlone has read the first. So far a bit dull, but Matthew Goode is enough to keep me watching till it picks up 😍 Should I read the series? #witches #adaptations #surgery #recovery

Lauren_reading I liked the first book, but then couldn‘t finish the second one. 5y
Saknicole @LaurenReads that's the same thing @kimberlone said. If I'm jonesing after season 1 I might try! 5y
Kimberlone I have the second and third books. You can have them if you want to try. I kind of think the books are like a mix between outlander and twilight 5y

LibrarianRyan I'm dying to see Artemis Fowl, but also apprehensive. they bundle two books together, and they have moved it 3 times, which is normally indicative of reshoots. 5y
