pickThis is a soft pick. It was cheesy and predictable and would make a good Hallmark movie. It was set in an apple orchard from June to November so this is a good time of the year to read it, a good summer to autumn transition book. You definitely want to have some apples or apple products ready to eat. And I appreciate the recipe at the end of the book.
pickI‘m surprised this has such a low rating on here. I absolutely loved this book! A beautiful coming-of-age story, with each chapter like a short story unto itself. I also really love books that have a strong sense of place, which this one definitely does.
pickI cared about these characters from the start. Having enjoyed apple orchards, and pressing cider with my family, I could smell the apples as they were described. Great autumn read.
pickI really like this author's writing. And I liked this story. My only complaint is I didn't like the main character, Sanna. It's clear she is guarded & why, but she acts childish, hardly apologizes, and basically gets between Isaac and his son which is a huge no-no to me. She has her reasons, but instead of stepping back & letting Isaac figure things out with his son, she makes it about her. I finished, just never got around to liking Sanna.

I want approximately four bites of pumpkin pie every couple of months. I've had a lot of mediocre apple pies and have no further patience for them, but if it's a really good apple pie, I'm all in for that.
