Another gripping instalment. Vol. 6 shows us the fallout of the climax from vol. 5, which is heavy with a lot of self-reflection from our characters. We get to see a personal side of them that's quite intimate, showcasing some insecurities & vulnerabilities that they have. It really helps us to understand them on a whole new level. I loved it. 5/5!!

Okay, now that I've got that outta my system, such an INTENSE book as the climax of Shoya's personal growth begins to hit him like a steel-plated wall. This volume had more shojo vibes. Friendships start blooming, you see awkward adolescent feelings stirring about and you can't help but wonder how the pieces will fall (if they'll fall into place). It was a good break from the serious tone without relinquishing that tone completely. I enjoyed this volume quite a lot! It was nice to see these kids just be kids for a bit. 5/5.

The 2nd volume takes us on a journey of redemption & growing up as we watch Shoya realise how terrible he was to ppl who didn't deserve it. His efforts & hard work into changing himself are remarkable and shows us that everyone can always be a little bit better & change is possible!! It's emotional & extraordinary. 5/5.

Volume 1 was absolutely phenomenal. It's very intense. You can't help but feel angry for what's happening to Shoko. Not only is this an exploration of bullying in Japan, it's also an examination of what it's like to be deaf in a culture where the stigma of such a thing is heart-breakingly negative. 5/5 and a toss into my favourites bin.
