3.5⭐️ I read this for the most recent #bookcougars #readalong. For the most part I enjoyed the book, but I didn‘t expect it to be as steamy as it was. As I said during the chat session, I enjoyed the historical context of the book, but the rest of the story seemed to be a bit contrived in places. I‘m not much of a #romance reader, but I was glad to dip my toes in this genre. #2024 #fiction #bookreview #historicalfiction #fiction

One of my favorite reads this year.

This books is a MASTERPIECE! 🔥 It spans eight generations from the Gold Coast of Africa to America, from the eighteenth century to the American Civil War to Jazz Age Harlem.

Homegoing should be required reading by EVERYONE, especially Americans and the British. Just sayin.

This is cute!
I liked that there are no mean girls, all of the characters want the best for each other and the book is filled with girl love. There are many views of immigrant families, and so much positivity.
This will probably be the most happy and positive book I will read this year and I love the bubble gum pink cover.

After a couple of days with temperatures above 30 degrees Celsius, I‘m really enjoying some chilly outdoor reading.

I loved The Prey of Gods, but couldn't get into this one. It's a YA-ish fantasy set in a world where everyone has a twin, and twins have seven vices distributed among them, which are recorded on the skin and determine a person's opportunities. I think Drayden is saying something about ambiguities forced into fake binaries, and I think I'm sympathetic, but the setup just feels contrived and I mostly didn't understand her characters' motives.

Come-read-with-me That is an intense face on the cover! 4y
swynn @Come-read-with-me Yes, I love that cover! It's by Thea Harvey, who is terrific and you can see more of her work here: https://www.artstation.com/peixel 4y
Come-read-with-me @swynn Thanks! I‘ll check it out! 4y

My #BookSpin and#DoubleSpin reads for January. I don't know much about them except that I loved Nicky Drayden's first book The Prey of Gods, and the Bayron book was nominated for a Goodreads Choice award. Looking forward to both!

Thanks @TheAromaofBooks !

TheAromaofBooks Woohoo!! 4y
rachelsbrittain I loved Drayden's Prey of the Gods, too, and Cinderella is Dead has been on my TBR. Hope they're both good reads! 4y
