Did Chantha just become my new hero? YES! What an amazing life story of courage and resilience.

Her story is one that will stay with me for a long time and she is a testament that the will to live can help you overcome anything. And that even when you feel that you don‘t have anything to offer, you can impact so many lives.

If you ever feel that your life sucks, pick up this book. I promise that it will change your perspective.

This one is heavy on the heart. I am ashamed to admit that I was woefully unaware of the genocide in Cambodia. After reading this, I read up on the same and I wonder why we as kids are not taught about this in history.

F for A to Z challenge!

One of my most anticipated books of 2024 is this one and I‘ll tag two people who I know also like a good food memoir: @DebinHawaii and @Mitch .

I found this book about the Cambodian genocide in the 1970‘s to be captivating and inspiring. It‘s astounding what people will do to other people, and the lengths people go to to stay alive in the face of it. This book really brought the plight of refugees to life. This book was provided to me by the publisher as part of the LibraryThing Early Reviewers Program. #ARCApril

Andrew65 Well done on finishing it 😁 A very dark period. 12mo

This is an intense, heartbreaking novel that shows the inner strength many possess, along with how infected with hate some can become. Under the Naga Tail puts a human face on genocide, war and the struggles of refugees, events that are still repeated around the world almost 50 years after the horrible events in Cambodia. It is well written and gripping, and the love within this family is not only powerful, but inspirational.

I can‘t imagine how all these families were able to go on day after day not knowing what was going to happen to them or if they were even going to survive. I cannot begin to know what these families have been through and the strength it took Mae to relive all the horror for James to put into this book. I wonder how James felt hearing what his father and family went through. I am thankful to both of them for sharing this story.
