so-soNot an enjoyable read but I was determined to reach the end of this novel. Set in Cambridge at the start of the 2nd World War I just couldn't get any enthusiasm from the storyline. Quite often I didn't understand exactly what was going on. With spying and development of new weaponry coupled with unexplained deaths and the resulting investigation which did uncover something unexpected, I found the text monotonous.
so-soI‘m not sure how to rate this book. It was one of the most complicated books I‘ve ever read. I learned way more about Sir Isaac Newton and Alchemy than I‘d care to. Although I normally love stories about ghosts and magic, I didn‘t love this one. I can‘t say that the book was bad, because it was obvious that amount of research the author put into it. It was just way too technical for me, footnotes and all.
