I can‘t wait for another book by this author! I thought I knew the culprit but was absolutely shocked! I ended up reading Fury, then Silent Patient then Maidens, but I appreciate the crossover of some characters.

Mehso-so

Not an enjoyable read but I was determined to reach the end of this novel. Set in Cambridge at the start of the 2nd World War I just couldn't get any enthusiasm from the storyline. Quite often I didn't understand exactly what was going on. With spying and development of new weaponry coupled with unexplained deaths and the resulting investigation which did uncover something unexpected, I found the text monotonous.

I‘m not sure how to rate this book. It was one of the most complicated books I‘ve ever read. I learned way more about Sir Isaac Newton and Alchemy than I‘d care to. Although I normally love stories about ghosts and magic, I didn‘t love this one. I can‘t say that the book was bad, because it was obvious that amount of research the author put into it. It was just way too technical for me, footnotes and all.

#bookspin yearly #wrapup2024

Not my greatest bookspin year but 8/12 books not too bad. My favorite out of this bunch was Heidi and The Heaven and Earth Grocery Store.
