This has got to be one of the best Ruth Galloway mysteries, yet. Have we reached the end? It feels like it, but I think that‘s OK. There‘s a murder to solve, of course, but, personally, I was more interested in the involvements of all of the characters that I have come to love. No spoilers, but that ending had me bawling. All is as it should be. And I will forever wonder what they are all doing now. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

1. Hard to choose, but I‘ll mention the tagged book, the 15th and final installment in Elly Griffiths‘ Ruth Galloway series. 2. I‘ve preordered The Curse of Penryth Hall, plus I‘m planning to read some holiday-themed cozies in December (by Donna Andrews, Anne Perry, M.C. Beaton) 3. Trope? Hmmm, one would be when the detective gets too close to the solution and becomes a target of the killer - adds a thriller element. @RaeLovesToRead

RaeLovesToRead Ooh, I'll have to check out Penryth Hall... 🤔 I like when the detective is involved and it becomes a thriller, but I HATE when the detective falls in love with a suspect 😅 13mo

Builders renovating a cafe find a bricked-up skeleton, recent enough to have a metal plate in its ankle and hence of interest to Nelson and his team. Ruth has problems of her own as the university wants to close down her dept.

The last in the series and it shows, as characters from earlier books pop up all over the place and there is a lot of reminiscing. The actual mystery was intriguing and suspenseful enough to keep me up way past my bedtime.

What a night last night in Michigan! Hope all mitten littens are doing well. Our back forty is a little messy and we don‘t have power, but we *do* have the big generator running so it‘s all good. I‘m rereading the final Ruth Galloway since I read it in such a state of suspense last week. (Would I like the ending?) And I‘m ready to open my #staycation package tomorrow! It arrived Wednesday, and mine was delivered yesterday.

I could only get this in large print which I always find hard to read.🤷🏻‍♂️. It is set in 2022 , so all fairly current. It feels like it might be the last book in the series as everything is tied up neatly in the last chapters. I‘ve loved my journey with Ruth and this really seems like the perfect ending for her. I‘ve enjoyed the journey. A great escape for me. Glad I read them in order. Though I didn‘t start at the beginning. 🤞it makes TV.

When builders discover a human skeleton while renovating a café, they call in archaeologist Dr. Ruth Galloway, who is preoccupied with the threatened closure of her department and by her ever-complicated relationship with DCI Nelson. The bones turn out to be modern--the remains of Emily Pickering, a young archaeology student who went missing in 2002.

As they investigate, Nelson and his team uncover a tangled web of relationships within the archaeology group and look for a link between them and the café where Emily's bones were found. 1y
EadieB Then, just when the team seem to be making progress, Cathbad disappears. The trail leads Ruth a to the Neolithic flint mines in Grimes Graves. EadieB Nelson and Michelle have split up and Ruth and Kate are moving to a new collage which is 10 miles from her old cottage. She will still have a view of the sea. The murder of Emily has been solved and Cathbad has been exonerated. This was one of my favorite series and now it is finally over. I'm looking forward to reading another series by Elly Griffiths - Brighton Mysteries or Harbinder Kaur. 1y

This is book 15 and the last in the Ruth Galloway mystery series. I am saddened to see this series come to end because it has become one of my favorites. I have enjoyed following the lives of the characters and they have become like friends. Despite being bitter sweet for me, I thought the ending was appropriate and I am thankful that the author wrapped everything up nicely. 5⭐️

So bittersweet- this is the final novel in the fabulous Ruth Galloway series A woman‘s bones are unearthed enclosed in a wall. Her bones turn out to that of a woman missing since 2002. An archaeology Professor & Cathbad,Ruth‘s dear friend & godfather to her daughter are suspects.Cathbad, who suffers from Long Covid, goes missing. Ruth & Nelson join forces to find him.Claustrophobic, dark, riveting scenes make for a tense read.🔽

So good! A fitting end (maybe) to this series, but it leaves the door open if the author decides to return to these characters. All the major players in the series make an appearance, there is a fascinating crime to solve, plus a disappearance to be investigated. It makes a completely satisfying story with a surprising solution. I loved it.

Another great installment of the Ruth Galloway series! Ruth had moved away from Norfolk for a fresh start. However, a murder suspect won‘t tell DCI Nelson where bodies are buried unless she agrees to be the one to dig them up. I‘ve come to like Ruth more and more with each book. At first I thought her too weak and whiny. But she has become stronger and more confident.

Ruth now living with Frank in Cambridge,is drawn into Nelson‘s investigation because murderer Ivor March says he wants to make a deal with her:he will reveal where other murdered women are buried if Ruth will do the digging. Of course she agrees. An atmospheric read, rooted in local lore.

Everything is topsy turvy. Ruth and Kate are in Cambridge with Frank - OK…NO! This doesn‘t feel right, at all. Ruth gets dragged into an investigation of a serial killer after her former boss, Phil, seemingly bungles an excavation. There are so many twists and turns, and Ruth is having panic attacks. Something has to give, and it does. The ending had me feeling so relieved. And the murder(s)(?) Is solved. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Enjoyable, but it‘s about the twelfth in the series, if it wasn‘t enjoyable I wouldn‘t still be here! I thought the plot was pretty thin in places though, it felt like you could have pinned the crime on any of a number of characters and the non-recurring characters could have been fleshed out more. Still fun all the same. This was October‘s #doublespin book.

Ivor March has been convicted of killing 2 women but Nelson is sure he also killed 2 other missing women. March agrees to reveal where they're buried, but only if Ruth is present & agrees to excavate the burials.

Elly Griffiths is back on form. It's one of the best in the series: the mystery itself is intriguing, Ruth does her forensic archaeology, and despite the continuing entanglements, we're not lurching from one soap opera crisis to another.

I don‘t know how this series can keep getting better, but it does. This time, the mystery revolves around the murders of young women. Nelson thinks he has the serial killer in custody, but does he? Ruth excavates some of the bodies and discovers another that does fit the pattern. I‘d encountered the legend of the lantern men in another novel, so I was interested in how it was worked into this story Love these characters. Five ⭐️

Another great addition to the Ruth Galloway series. Ruth now lives with Frank in Cambridge and she has a new job. She is however drawn back to Norfolk due to a case. A convicted murderer offers the police a deal. He is willing to tell the police about the murders, but only if Ruth will handle the diggings to find the murder victims. Naturally she agrees. She is once again involved in a case that the media is all over. ⬇

Tove_Reads The case has something to do with the mysterious Lantern men, but who are they? Young, tall blonde women seem to be the target, but one of the victims does not fit the pattern… It is an enjoyable read. The beginning took me by surprise since it took the reader two years forward from the previous book to Ruth‘s new life. Once I got used to the idea the book focused mostly on Norfolk and its quirky people. This book is a solid part of the series and 4y
