A fascinating look at the pioneers of cardiology and how far the practice has come in a short amount of time. Educational but easily approachable without being condescending.

I haven't really planned for #blackhistorymonth but then I am based in Dorset.
This is the best I can do.
Really well-written history of cardiac surgery for any medically-oriented folks out there. It‘s also pretty readable for anyone without a medical background!! ♥️

Listened to this one on audio and really enjoyed it. Part memoir and part medical history, it was a fascinating look into the relatively recent understanding of how the human heart works and what treatments we are able to do. For example, CPR wasn‘t around until the late 1950s even though physicians began attempting open heart surgery in the late 1800s. Lots of interesting facts about cardiology - would definitely recommend. #audiobook #cardiology
This was a great read for #scienceseptember from personal history with heart disease and training as a heart specialist to the history of how our understanding of the heart has developed, and with it treatments for various ailments - meditation often does as much as medication, and the connection between anxiety/stress and the heart. I recently had AED training when I was CPR certified but had no idea that technology was so new. ⤵️
The #everykindapeople version I know is by S Club 7, who signed my video when I had my heart transplant, hence my choice of book. #ayupaugust @squirrelbrain @Cinfhen
I know this is the wrong organ for #everybreathyoutake, but because of my ♥️ transplant I have good reasons for choosing these books about the ♥️. #AnglophileApril @Cinfhen @emilyhaldi @Mdargusch @Reviewsbylola
1. The first thing we noticed after my transplant is that I had more 'puff' to blow bubbles, which we used as a distraction technique as I still had my fear of needles & blood tests then.
2. I had what's known as a 'domino' transplant ⬇️
