Here is the recipe I use every year! It‘s from the plaid red and white Betty Crocker book. I use butter or margarine rather than shortening. #wintergames #holidayrecipes #holidaybaking #ghostsofxmas @BookwormAHN

I did some baking tonight! I made my favorite Christmas cookies - Gingersnaps (though really more like gingerbread cookies because they‘re soft.😆)🎄🎅🏼 #wintergames #ghostsofxmas @BookwormAHN
I‘m current reading this charming story about young Tamsyn who is sent to live with her uncle and his big family in bustling Tudor London. It‘s just the sort of story I would‘ve loved as a child, with lots of daily and seasonal details of that time.
And it has recently been republished in a gorgeous new edition by Manderley Press. 👍
A bookstore opened in my town! Best day of 2023 hands down! A really good selection of books, diverse authors, solid sci-fi/fantasy, poetry and a lot of good romance authors mixed in with the fiction section. #shoplocal
December 22 #DevineDecember Gingerbread I am not a fan of ginger. Sonthese cooking are not my favorites. @Eggs @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks
I first learned to bake ginger snaps from my grandmother. They looked about as far from these pieces of art (thank you google) as you can imagine. Basic small rounds, no icing. But I‘d never had a ginger cookie before, and her‘s were punchy, and I just loved them! #Gingerbread #DivineDecember @Eggs @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks
I haven't read King Lear since high school so my memory is vague about the story so I went with this graphic adaptation for a re-read.
I can see that Hinds kept the larger aspects of the bard's original story and adding in some additional context in his adaptation but trying to follow the dashes from character to speech bubbles became confusing and in a digital format didn't read as well as maybe a printed version could.
I had many beloved books growing up, like, Each Peach Pear Plumb, There‘s a Nightmare in My Closet, and Pumpkin Pumpkin. But, The Lion‘s Paw was the first book to suck me in make me really fall in love with reading!
