Pipi makes me laugh! I want a horse to live on my porch! She‘s confident and a bit absurd, but always makes everything fun.To escape the moment and share her adventures again was a pleasure.
HBD to Astrid Lindgren!
I first discovered Pippi as a movie, I watched the new adventures of Pippi Longstocking as a kid on repeat and was a fully fledged adult before I found, read and loved the books!
Pictured : Astrid and the actress who played Pippi in the original film.
Pippi Longstocking was one of my favourites as a kid. She is such a strong and amazing character for kids.

I stumbled upon an excellent movie on Amazon Prime yesterday about Astrid Lindgren - author of Pippi Longstocking.
I had no idea that Lindgren was a single, teenage mother. What she went through and overcame makes for a very inspiring movie.
Just chilling with some books in Gramma‘s library. Love my little Lolo 🥰
Lauren child is the perfect illustrator for Pippi! ❤️
I don't remember reading Pippi when I was growing up and I don't think I read it to my son but I do have fond memories of the 1960s TV show. The copy I checked out was illustrated by Lauren Child who illustrated the Charlie and Lola series which I did read and watch with my son. Pippi's story is timeless. It is still fresh to read about a precocious child who gets into all sorts of trouble and adventure. #1001books
Feeling nostalgic so I'm reading one of my childhood favourites. 😍❤
#MordecaiReads Even the 3-year-olds laughed at this one. Tried to find a (cheap) copy of the old 80‘s movie for them to watch and came up empty handed. #audiobook
This is what the cover of my first Pippi book looked like in the late 1950s. Mum ordered it for me from the book order pamphlet (before Book Fairs existed).

Owlcrate is my absolute favorite subscription box! I decided to give owlcratejr a try and this is my first month of goodies!
I hadn't read Pippi Longstocking since I was a kid and I enjoyed it just as much. Pippi is such a good example of female confidence. Lauren Child's illustrations were fantastic!
“I have never tried that before, so I think I should definitely e able to do that.”
This is a adorable book and can lead children to a world of crazy adventures.
Pippi long-stocking by Astrid Lindgren is a modern fantasy book that was published in 2005. This book is about Tommy and his sister Annika who have a new neighbor. The new neighbors name is Pippi Longstocking. She has crazy red pigtails, no parents to tell her what to do. She had a horse that lives on her porch, and a flair for the outrageous that leads her to adventure.
“You understand Teacher, don't you, that when you have a mother who's an angel and a father who is a cannibal king, and when you have sailed on the ocean all your whole life, then you don't know just how to behave in school with all the apples and ibexes.”

Apparently embroidery hoops are a thing. I made one for my daughter when she graduated HS & she has it hanging in her dorm room. She asked me for a few more for Christmas & picked this Pippi Longstocking quote out. I‘ve always related to free spirited Pippi with her red hair and love of the sea and adventure!
November 26 always means braided pigtails in honor of Pippi Longstocking! 73 today!
Another fun children‘s story I have never read before. I grew up with Curious George, and I think he and Pippi would have been great friends.😉

I wasn't actually sure I had read this, but I definitely did around first or second grade. It was a fun bit of nonsense to break up my reading. It put a smile on my face, even if I wouldn't mark it as a favourite. It brought back pleasant memories.
Today I revisited my childhood while also touristing in Sweden. #backpackEurope #1001books

1) native: German, primary (as in used mainly): English
2) German, English, some French (can read and understand basic Spanish and Italian), "kitchen Latin", tiny bit of Russian, can read/understand Danish, Swedish, Norwegian, Dutch, learned some phrases in weird languages like Xhosa,...
3) of course, about 80% of my books are in English, there are a few German, French and a single ambitious one in Swedish (tagged)
Cracking up listening to this, it's just as crazy as I remember it from decades ago. 👍😂 #kidslit #audiobooks #nostalgiareads

#EmojiMadness Day 31: Today‘s 🧦 prompt naturally reminded me of Pippi - these photos were taken while my 16 year old girl and I were book hunting in Bergen. Norli, one of their popular retail bookstores, has this mural of Pippi on their wall. Naturally, we had to have our photo taken.
I'm Pippi Pippi Longstocking how I love my funny name.
If I was 8 or 9, I'd absolutely love Pippi and I did love the film growing up. As an adult, I can't stop thinking about why these Swedish adults are totally okay with a kid living alone with a horse and monkey. The Settergren's could have at least checked in on her more than to pick up their kids! Moral of this review: read Pippi as a kid, not a stuffy overprotective parent. 🤣
