🎉An early birthday gift from my hubby💕 I‘m desperately looking for help/suggestions on apps etc… I‘ve looked for all my regulars (Litsy, GR/SG, Duo Lingo, Kobo) but none are available. I‘ve so far, downloaded Spotify, a Spanish language learning app. Needless to say I‘m a little lost ‘cause I‘m not a gamer & I‘ve had difficulties reading on a tablet before. Any help would greatly be appreciated!

Seabreeze_Reader I'm not sure if you borrow digital books through your library. If so hopefully Libby and Hoopla are available for that version of the kindle fire 8. 1w
Seabreeze_Reader Adding; It's been years since a Litsy app was available for kindle. The Goodreads app should have come preinstalled. 1w
DieAReader @Seabreeze_Reader 🤓Thanks! ✅Libby. Can‘t even seem to find the GR app in the “store”🧐. Gonna keep looking though🤞🏻 1w

DieAReader @Seabreeze_Reader GR no longer supported/available😟 1w
willaful @DieAReader wha....? But Amazon owns GoodReads! 1w
DieAReader @willaful Makes no sense to me either🙄
1w
RamsFan1963 @DieAReader Amazon has an app store that contains an older version of Litsy that should work on your tablet. I have a Samsung Galaxy 8+, and when Litsy crashed a few months ago, I went there because the app was no longer available on Google Play. 1w
DieAReader @RamsFan1963 😭Unfortunately, there‘s no Litsy app anymore either. 1w
RamsFan1963 @DieAReader That's why I haven't updated my phone in a few years, even though I'd like to go up to 5G, I'm worried about losing the apps like Litsy that I love and depend on so much. 1w
Seabreeze_Reader @DieAReader Wow! How weird about GR. Maybe they are phasing out the app -or- coming out with a new version. That's one of those apps I never used because it's so clunky. Well, enjoy your new kindle anyway. 🙂 1w
DieAReader @RamsFan1963 🫂I totally understand! 1w
DieAReader @Seabreeze_Reader ❤️‍🔥Thanks! 1w

I read this book years ago (written in 2007). I have pulled it out to re-read it. Anyone who wants to understand how our global economy works & the labor that is used, this is an eye opening book. Especially now that we are entering a new era of backlash against immigration & migrant workers. Many US companies use modern slave labor as their workforce. It‘s easy to turn a blind eye or blame others if we don‘t know the circumstances.

Help? Those of you who work with college students and new hires, who work in career development, and those who love learning… I have been charged with creating and delivering a 15 min program for college students on how to enhance “career-ready skills” — SOFT SKILLS! I can do this, I am confident in my ability to facilitate such, but need to pick a topic FAST. Suggestions? 🧐😬😃

Nutmegnc I‘m not sure of specifics but I LOVE George Couros and his book the Innovators Mindset is also great. This touches on those 21st century skills that students need in the coming job market. I bet you could pick a topic from there. You might also bring in the ISTE standards for students. 8mo
BkClubCare @Nutmegnc TY, I have to work it all up tomorrow. Thank you 😊 8mo
wanderinglynn Adam Grant has some fantastic topics, like knowing what you don‘t know. 8mo

Bookwormjillk Big topic in my office right now. I agree with @wanderinglynn that Adam Grant is a good place to start. 8mo
bthegood college students - big things they need work on : eye contact, engaged and active listening, hand shakes - 🙂 8mo
BkClubCare @Bookwormjillk @wanderinglynn - Thank you! That first story in Think Again, about the fire fighters, has stayed with me. 🌟 8mo
BkClubCare @bthegood - a presentation on how to be present without being scolding could be a challenge 😂 Active Listening activities might be a good way to go. 🙏 (edited) 8mo

When is the @Litsy app returning to the Google Play store for Android users? I had to factory reset my phone and the #Litsy app is no longer available for download. Tried directly with Play Store and through the various links here and at LibraryThing, no go.

The web app is okay for liking and commenting but it's terrible on mobile for editing pictures.

CampbellTaraL Also leaving that funny text prompt on the image because that's how clunky it is to try to use web version on mobile! 9mo
Librarybelle I‘m an Apple user, but I know other Android users on Litsy found a way to get the app on through means other than the Google Play store…hopefully they‘ll be able to help! 9mo
Ruthiella @julesG Has the answer. I can‘t remember the post anymore, however, where she gave the instructions. 9mo

RamsFan1963 You can find the Litsy app on Amazon's app store also. I had to use that when my phone crash and I lost the app for Litsy. 9mo
julesG Download the APK file and open it. Here's the link: https://litsy.en.uptodown.com/android Open the APK file. Your phone might say it's from an unreliable source, but you can tell your phone it isn't. This should install the Litsy App on Android. 9mo
CampbellTaraL Thanks all. I'll do the alternative installation route but this still should be fixed if the plans are to sustain @Litsy long-term. If not, well... 9mo
tpixie @Billypar does this help? 1mo
Billypar @tpixie Both the uptodown link and the Amazon app store got me closer. The trouble is that now Google Play Protect is blocking me, and keeps asking for a PIN that I didn't set up to allow the download or change the setting. I just tried setting up a PIN but it still didn't work. I'm going to keep trying though! 1mo
tpixie @Billypar so glad you worked it out!!! Perseverance prevails! (edited) 1mo

Reggie

Hi Litsy I have a short window. I have an IOS phone. For the past 2 days Litsy comes up as the white screen with the logo minutes later just says can‘t connect. My internet is fine. I turned off/on my phone, uninstalled-reinstalled, let my phone totally die. Did the new iOS update. And it‘s still the same. I go to the desktop version on my laptop and it can‘t connect to the server even though I can do everything else. Any ideas. I can get 👇🏼

Reggie get back here like this but within minutes it‘ll do the same thing. Any advice? 11mo
julesG You have similar problems with your phone and the desktop version. Did you use the desktop version from your phone? If no and you used a computer to access the Litsy website, then it might be a DNS problem. Have you tried restarting your router and or updating the router's software? 11mo
Reggie @julesG Thank you it‘s working now when I‘m not home so yeah that might be it. I‘ll give it a try when I get there. Thanks so much. 11mo

Bookzombie I hope this works! 🤞🏻 11mo
Reggie @julesG you were right. I just rebooted my modem and it works fine now. Thanks so much. 11mo
julesG 🥳🥳🥳 Yeah!!! Glad this helped. 11mo
Centique I had something similar with the ios app not loading - days of white screen this week - but thank goodness uninstalling and reinstalling worked for me. Cant live without Litsy! 11mo
Reggie @Centique I Just wanted to say Merry Christmas and that I got the knife bookmarks and the King book. Thank you soooo much! I hope your family has a great holiday! 11mo
Centique @Reggie yay! Im glad they got there safely. Good day yesterday, saw a gazillion family members, avoided the potential feud brewing between my in laws - survived the onslaught of the Commerce Gods! Hope you had a good day and that you get a break and some chill out time 💕 11mo

Not that anyone can see this, but go to the onward Litsy Facebook page and answer their poll please about whether or not you‘re still having issues with the app only. (I am) @LitsyEvents

A book about some of the good things happening in modern Africa. I‘m glad I read this one! #ReadingAfrica2022

Librarybelle Hooray! 2y
BarbaraBB Great! Which countries does it cover? 2y
Bookwormjillk @BarbaraBB so many! Cameroon, Ethiopia, Kenya, Nigeria and many more. I‘m not sure what I‘ll use it for yet. I found a list here https://books.google.com/books/about/The_Bright_Continent.html?id=1zzYAgAAQBAJ 2y

Novogratz recounts her use of a banking background to build a bank to provide microfinancing to women in #Rwanda. This was in the 80s, and she also recounts her returns to the country after the genocide, including the stories of women she had worked with and their experiences in the genocide. Really interesting.

Librarybelle So good it was an interesting book! The book cover‘s colors also goes so well with your blanket! 2y

We so often hear awful things about Africa. But what about the good? The innovation driven by need. The strong family structures. The embrace of cellular technology to improve lives. Olopade looks at all these things and more in this positive look at Africa. I enjoyed the read and learned a ton (plus that cover! 😍). Could be used for many countries, but I choose #Cameroon.

BarbaraBB I Think this is an important book. Reading Africa is quite hard at times, so much misery. I love a positive point of view! 3y
