#currentlyreading for my teacher librarian book club. Apparently it‘s divisive... we shall see. #memoir #spectrum #naturalworld #hardback #family #conservation #environmentalist #Ireland Plus #spikyplant that cut me. #ouch

Libby1 Hi! I‘m reading this right now. Can you please tell me how it‘s been divisive? I can‘t see anything in it yet to cause concern. 5y
Missusb Gosh. Uhm..I wrote that a long time ago before I read it. I think I read some reviews on Goodreads that mentioned his age and his autism. But yeah. I didn't find it a problem. I loved his voice. And he just won a huge environmental award in Ireland with it. 5y

And then, as she had done so many times before, Wangari planted a tree.

I love how colorful all the images in this book are. This is my favorite book out of all of them because it was really touching at that point in the story

Pickpick

I really loved the message behind this book. This is about a young girl in Kenya who wants an education, she sees her brother go to school so she eventually makes it happen for herself. She ends up going to the United States to study but never forgets where she came from. She eventually returns to Kenya to help her country when she feels it needs help.

My messy desk, which weirdly is bringing me a moment of joy.

Even when I‘m having the shittiest day & I‘m sick of driving, & I want to murder my coworker & throngs of young children (who doesn‘t feel that on a sporadic basis? 😅🔪), I have to remember that my job is such that my desk can be covered in books about phosphorescence, optical illusions, & novels filled with gorgeous words, & it‘s considered “work.”

Things are never all bad, are they?

Slajaunie I love that! What is you profession? 7y
monalyisha Thanks @Slajaunie 🤗! I work in what I refer to as a “shape-shifting library.” It‘s an elementary school library during the day & a public library after school lets out. 7y
Slajaunie @monalyisha I love it! That must be a fun and challenging job. I have never heard of such a thing. Where is this wondrous library? Books all day though! 7y
monalyisha @Slajaunie It‘s in Massachusetts. It‘s definitely a unique program! 7y
